Aftermarket Fuel Filter?

Just purchased a one owner super clean 2021 F150 3.5L Lariat with 120K miles From a Ford dealer. Purchased everything to change front & rear differential, transmission pan drop fluid change & filter. Could not find a Fuel filter on Amazon or Rockauto and assuming Ford made the “wise” decision to eliminate a fuel filter. These “Lifetime“ non-service designs are ridiculous and just a way to make more money at dealerships with unneeded service.

Has anyone installed an aftermarket filter and have any recommendations? I use to install the the inline K&N glass filters in all my old 50’s & 60’s restorations.

Ford eliminated serviceable fuel filters in the early 2000’s. You’re liable to do more harm than good trying to add your own.

Put one after market filter on a 98 4.6 F150 and it was the last no improved mileage and just as expensive after cleaning to re-oil the darn messy thing. Air filters are changed out every fall after the leaves have fallen and pollen has stopped.

The OP was talking about a fuel filter not an air filter.

The gasoline fuel filter is part of the in-tank fuel pump assembly and is "Lifetime" rated. I interpret "lifetime" as somewhere's around 100,000 to 150,000 miles.

Odd the manual says it has a lifetime fuel filter but also mentions to replace engine and frame mounted fuel filters every 30k miles

That recommendation applies to the diesel trucks.
