If a car manufacturer only had to change air filter design to gain more horsepower to advertise I’m sure they would spend an extra 20cents to do so. It’s rare, even for cold air intakes to get better power.

But Ford give you multiport fuel injection and direct fuel injection (two injectors per cylinder)when all other truck manufacturers only give you direct injection which is huge! Ford also gives you a deep breathing DOHC V8 engine or powerful and stout turbocharged V6 engines when others give you cheaper old school pushrod (single cam) V8 engines, turbocharged I-4 engines, or straight I-6 turbcharged engines of which all are big cost cutting measures. Ford also gives you 400-700 pound lighter aluminum bodies that dont rust and increase performance and capability which is an expensive thing to do for a manufacturer. Amen. I was always a Toyota guy. First non Toyota truck is 22 3.5 and i absolutely love it. Love how trim levels you can get and the price range. I got exactly what I wanted, the most basic package with 4x4 4 doors and stx and it was like 52k tow package as well. No intention of racing it, which I did a couple times. Having gone deep enough down the HVAC filter medium rabbit hole, I know not all filters/filter medium are created equal.Lay people do not realize that a new air or oil filter is much less effective as no loading of the filter media has taken place. Consider that after XX hours of engine operation and with some loading it is important that sufficient air or oil can pass through the filter so when new the media will filter the least in terms of particles passing through.
My own experience is that the OEM filters fit better and so perform better than aftermarket filters whether from K&N or Fram or others.
