You seem to miss the point... If you don't prefill, the engine runs dry for a longer time.

yes, as I stated, it’s only common sense to prefill. Then before starting, hold the gas pedal all the way to the floor and crank it for 10 to 15 seconds, build pressure.

Completed the installation. Here are some pix. Chose to use armored hoses in half inch sizing. There is a space between frame members that the hose can slip thru. The block filter landing spot is far enough back from the front end stuff that the hose does not need to turn too sharply turning toward the block adapter. You will need a wrench with a shorter handle to tighten down the flare fittings at the block adapter. If you are interested in doing this, message me and I'll send you some specifics such as hose lengths, what kind of fittings, length of hoses and tips on putting it in..
Do you put any anti chafe wrap on your hoses where they pass through?

I looked at that. For now no. I used wire wrapped hoses and initially thought that it would be tight. I used 1/2" ID hoses. Turns out to be more room than I had thought. Still, pay attention to the hose ends as they have to pass thru that space. I plan on using 5/8" hose when replacing them and may put a wrap on the section passing thru the frame members. On reflection, now that I have installed an oil pressure gauge, I'm glad I used wire wrapped hose. The system pressure, at high level, is around 95 to 100#.

Nothing else, you can use some rubber hose, slit down the middle if you think you may have a rub point
