Adding MIDDLE rear heated seat...how?

I know this is at the top of the 'first world problems' list, but I am hoping someone smarter than me will chime in.

We live in Alberta and do a ton of winter driving with all 3 of our kids. My truck has rear heated seats but naturally the kid who gets the middle seat gets the shaft when it comes to turning on the butt warmers.

I know that taking the seat cover off and adding a heating pad to the middle seat bottom wouldn't be overly difficult, but what would I do about the wiring? Would there be a way to just steal power from one of the existing harnesses for the rear heated seat OR would that overload the circuit if both old and new heaters were turned on at the same time (which they most certainly would be 99% of the time)? I know I would need a new button but that could be added easily in the rear of the console somewhere.

Any suggestions or hints/tips?

I actually considered that, and might do it in the short term...but I would really like to have a 'permanent' OEM-like solution.

I do not know the electrical side, resistance, etc. Could you add a heated mat under that section of seat connected to one of the others?

It would be incredibly difficult or maybe impossbile (without a ton of money) to heat the back pad of the middle seat since it has the fold down cup holders. I also do not know what kinda of power/amperage that circuit is rated for, or if it would be able to handle an additional 50% load.

You would likely either have to spend a TON of time or money, or both to make an OEM-like solution. I do not think it would be worth it, but that is not for me to decide

They guys that installed my katskinz in my "14 Tremor, add heated seats all of the time for people. I am sure a local shop in your area would have some good ideas that maybe you haven't thought of.

I would consider this a feature to encourage character building and a way to illustrate that life isn’t fair and let the kids decide who gets the center seat and hopefully they will rotate out so that one doesn’t get the cold seat the entire time.

I knew that society was in trouble when I saw a shopping cart with an attached plastic kiddie car and there was a steering wheel for both kids.

Failing that angle, there’s also electrically heated vests and jackets that run on many of the popular battery operated tool platforms. Though then; you’re stuck in the same spot as you are now, since the heated jacket might be more popular than the heated seats

I would think the easiest / safest solution would be to add the heat pad to the seat bottom and then use a relay attached to the existing adjacent switched power to trigger power to the new one. No worries about overloading the circuit that way.. downside is the one switch activates both seats, upside is you don't have to add another switch
