So, this weekend I've taken two round trip of around 40 miles in my 24 XL RCSB. Each of the 4 times I've did it, around 30 miles or so, my AC starts blowing harder and colder. I haven't adjusted the fan or the temperature knobs, but it's done it every time. To the point I've shut off the AC because it was freezing my wife out.

Is this a setting or something that I can adjust? It's like your furnace kicking on when the temp gets too low in the winter.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In my kr it does this periodically
If fan is on 2 or 3 and Temps set 65 to 70 with outside at or near 95 or more.
Driving into sun the system will sneak in a ramp up of speed and or cooler air as it tries to keep cab at the setting ,
Iirc the logic in system, even with auto off, which is me..I dint use auto
I like the cab cold,
The system tries to maintain what you set, and sometimes the passenger suffers. Because air flow from driver door side vents are very lacking in flow,
Also..in hig heat and humidity..do not set the dual setup on..use one temp setting.
Close off passenger vent a bit

Thank you for the reply, but I'm in an XL. I don't have dual zones, nor the ability to set temps to a number value. I just have the old one setting for the cab, circular knob- cold to hot- in my truck.

I did wonder if it senses something like you're describing, but it hasn't been warmer than 75 here the past couple days and I've only had the AC fan set on 1 or 2. Both of my trips have been in the evening/at night. I like it cold too, but the amount of air it pushes out is excessive, it's like you kicked the fan knob up to 4 or 5.

There is a temp sensor and sun load /light sensor
Pretty sure even the xl has input from those items...but I did sleep at holiday Inn once
?

My 22 does the same thing since new, even after swapping to dual ac controls. Not sure it it was after software updates but more recently I’ve noticed less air coming out of the drivers side vent

When I bought my 23 the sales guy mentioned Ford added (Gen14) an air filtration process/system to the HVAC. I always just chalked it up to that…

assuming this was a Ford selling feature due to COVID.

Could be a combination of sun load sensor AND the system switching to recirculation. It likes to automatically turn recirc on and off at random regardless of what you set it to. Some people have disabled its ability to recirc entirely because of this.

My 21 used to do the same thing when it was new on really long trips, haven’t noticed it in a while though.

Nothing is worse than it automatically turning off recirc on it's own mind right when you're passing a paper plant on I-95 or when you're around some smelly diesel truck.

My 21 KR not only does that, but also

I sometimes prefer to run the fan on low, the temp on low but leave the recirc open and the A/C compressor off.. whatever the temp is outside is what comes through the vents.

Eventually, the compressor will kick on and fan speed will pick up. An even worse override than OP's original concern if you ask me.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was just kind of worried that something was whacky with my system, but it appears there's something whacky about everyone's system.
