Hey All,

Just about to hit 60,000 miles on my 2021 F150 PowerBoost.

The service recommended in the manual is quite minimum with some check this and check that with the exception of "Replace the Spark Plugs".

Contacted two local dealers on their cost for the 60,000 mile service, and the one that called back said:

Coolant Service - $260
Transmission Service - $620
Fuel Injectors - $230
Brake Inspection - $150
Cabin Filter - $70
Engine Filter - $30
Oil Change/Rotate Tires - $82
Total - $1,442 + taxes

No mention of Spark Plug replacement. I'll save the $100 and replace the two filters myself.

Please share your thoughts/recommendations.

Thanks a bunch.

I believe the manual states the trans is filled for life or 150k miles. I would do that at 60k. What are they going to inspect on the brakes for 150 bucks-pass.
Coolant not a bad price but really not needed at that Milage but at that price I would be ok with it.
The filters like you said do yourself.
Unless your running crappy fuel pass on the injector cleaner.

I'm at 38k on my 2021. I'm planning on having trans and diffs done at 60k. I'd skip the rest.

I just did a coolant flush on my PB. I giant PITA, but not $260 PITA. I was able to drain 1.5 gals at a time, refilling with distilled water, and then heat cycling. I did this 6 times which brought the ethylene glycol down to about 2%.

After the last flush and drain I refilled with concentrate. This brought the coolant up to 30%. After two heat cycles I drained the system and refilled with concentrate a second time. This brought the coolant up to 56%. I am now debating if I should pull some out and add water to get to right at 50/50.

Right on time for spark plug replacement according to manual.

Did you do the brake fluid recently?

Why the big difference between the manual and the dealer? The dealer recommended the brake service for $150. That must be a fluid change.

Again, dealer, no mention of spark plugs. Manual, change spark plugs at 60,000.

Welcome to dealer service 101. They can recommend whatever they want. You can pay for whatever you want.

Dealers are continuing to recommend their own idea of service. Making up for the down time during the shutdown. I do or will be doing the following:

Every 30K Trans fluid (filter at the second change 60K and 120)
Oil and filter every 5K
Coolant system every 30K
Brake fluid every 30K
2WD rear dif every 50K
Tires rotated and balanced every 5K
Air filter every 12K
Cabin Filter every 12k
Wipers as needed

Id personally recommend doing the diffs and transfer case fluid through the dealer if you do it just before actually hitting 60k miles, mins is at 59500 and it's currently in getting the transmission rebuilt w/ new cdf drum and what not, and I had them do diff fluid and transfer case fluid as well. (21 pb lariat fx4 for reference)

They called me and found that the front diff was "gushing" fluid and had metal in it... so they ordered a new front diff to replace it and will be getting new fluid in that and transfer case for free under power train warranty. So I'll only have to pay out of pocket for rear diff fluid, which they didn't see any issues with

Thanks for all the insight. What are your thoughts on Sparkplugs at 60,000 miles?

Ford recommends the 60K for PB and ICE versions with PPoB installed because it's assumed that the engine spent a significant portion of that mileage as idle time with PPoB active providing power to the 110/220v panel. If you used the PPoB system a lot then may as well change the plugs. However if you rarely used it and just drove the truck normally then you can get away with skipping the plug change and get them done at the 100K interval as recommended for the non PPoB 3.5EB versions.

Also the dealer will probably quote 2-3 hours for this but it can be done fairly easily in about an hour at home with basic hand tools. Ultimately it's up to you and if you want to pay to have them replaced at 60 or 100K.

My local Ford dealer just quoted $850 for spark plug change for my 60000 mile service on my 2021 F150 5.0L. I noticed that included replacing the boots along with the plugs. Not sure that’s necessary at 60000 miles.
