Very impressive. More info would be fun. I will try to find that FB post and see if I can get it.

Edit: That was a classic reminder that FB groups are full of idiots and should be avoided. No new info to be had.

Very interesting read
If the tranny went that far is also amazing but level interstate would be perfect conditions to achieve this
But still very impressive

The 2.7 and 3.0 Nano are Ford’s most modern engine designs and it’s a disappointment that they didn’t use it for the Powerboost.

There’s no way that an alloy block will outlast an iron one all things being equal.

Pretty much all the anecdotes of 500,000 mile vehicles with OG drivetrains are traveling salesmen, or contractors who are pretty much driving all day every day on interstate highways. Which is an ideal situation. Most of the things that go wrong from normal use are from the cycles of driving and not from how many miles. That’s why sometimes a car with extraordinarily low mileage can be worse off than one with high mileage. Even tires are this way. In the aviation world where the maintenance of an engine is scrutinized far more; they’ve found that very low hour engines are usually in worse shape and produce less horsepower at maximum throttle because of unseen engine damage to the rings and bearings from sitting and gathering moisture from the atmosphere.

On my truck 1/3 of the hours on my engine is from idling and some work trucks with really low mileage can have 3X the idling time as driving time.

Sadly, from my own personal experience; the main factor of longevity is the owner and oftentimes the original owner.

People overlook minor maintenance all the time and it all adds up to how long a vehicle lasts. Stuff like shock absorbers not only help make the ride more comfortable but reduce wear to the suspension, wheel bearings and motor mounts. Think about the force experienced by a 200lb adult when you hit a bump then imagine how much that jars the engine which weighs more than double. Many of the cars on the road today would easily last 250K miles and more with correct maintenance.

Ah, fair point. Nice to see two high mileage examples.
Yeah I'm mostly interested in the wet belt, cam phasers, and of course transmission mechanical items and clutches.

That's great! I haven't seen many 1-200k 2018+ trucks to get comfortable let alone many 100k trucks that haven't had transmission problems.

Show this to everyone worried about the oil pump belt on 2.7 & 5.0!
What would it demonstrate to us? I think that you're building a straw man out of "the 2.7L cannot reach high mileage" in place of "a wet oil belt has a higher risk of failure at higher mileage than a chain".

There are MANY 10r80's beyond 100,000 miles without issues.

That's not a rare feat, I don't believe.

There's a 100,000 mile Powerboost I know of that hasn't had a single issue beyond an aftermarket 12V AGM.

Forums can leave skewed impressions.

Agreed. I have begun to separate out the battery issues from other stuff. Cannot figure it out but there's something really funny about those Ford AGM Batteries. I'm also a believer in changing out fluids very early to get out manufacturing residue. I'm working on making my F150 go 30 years like my 92 Suburban. Who knows... maybe it'll outlast me! :)
