4.3.4 power update

Good morning,
2021 f-150
I have an update showing. I have tried multiple times to run the 2.5 hour update and the truck will not take it. Ford claims it is the 9v battery not having enough power.
Battery was checked by a professional battery technician and is perfect.
I have tried booking up a charger and running the update with no luck. I was sure to turn anything off inside the truck the runs 24/7 when I drive it. I have driven for over an hour prior to starting this update.
I have disconnected the battery to try to reset everything and still no luck.
many help would be appreciated.

Did that notice of update show-up automatically, or did you have to click settings to get it to display?

Ok so I once again called ford.
The steps I tried or had to do:
Turn off headlights and auto start stop
Engage parking break
Turn off radio
Turn off a/c
Hook up a charger
Currently the download is going through.
I already reset the bms manually.
the only thing I did not do prior to calling is engaging the parking brake.

Rub stomach while patting the top of your head as you jump up and down. On a serious note, let us know how it goes. I tried it last night with the charger on with failing results. Charger shut down (abort mode) after about 6 hours in charge mode. Manual says possible battery issue. Having it checked on Tuesday while I get my axles and hubs replaced.

It went through in about an hour not the suggested 2.5 hours. Camera works again.

Hmm. I wonder if these newer updates are coded from Ford differently where you do actually have to set the parking brake. Interesting. If anyone else gets success by setting the parking brake, please report it back here. This update seems to be a PITA for a lot of people.

I made some changes for the unreal sync theme and I was working on getting the trip tiles added to the sync screen as I have a 21' Job 1.

Anyone else have my view on the rear cameras at speed?

It's possible that I had this before and didn't notice before I made those recent changes.

you will probally have to reset the bms manually or just wait and it will eventually reset itself. then the update will hopefully work.

I think mine had always been jacked up. Eventually updates install but it usually requires a 3+ hour drive to get to a point where it will. Another symptom of this is my auto start stop almost never works since it is always on battery charging.

My truck was built December 20 so it may just be a bad battery though it’s been checked every time I bring it in for service. The other issue is I have atypical driving habits where I usually only drive long distances (100-150 miles) regularly on weekends and very little day to day city driving, so it may be mostly a result of that. Still needing to drive 3+ hours seems like

For those of you that got 4.3.4 and still do not have rear camera(s) in motion, Ford is aware of the problem and will be sending out another OTA to correct the issue. They released the SSM on 8/4, but I didn't see it until just now.

Edit: I just got off the phone with Livornois. If your truck is tuned, this OTA will overwrite the tune. They already have the new strategy on file, so if/when it happens, contact them for an updated tune. I am not going to install this with FDRS. Once Ford forces it on me, I will worry about my tune then.

After the 4.3.4 OTA update failed over a dozen times, I started setting the parking brake and after a couple of attempts, lo and behold it updated successfully yesterday! I really don't get it...
