22 F-150 Tire Vibration

Mine feels like the gas pedal is like putting your foot on an electric toothbrush or a pair of hair clippers

Same here on a brand new 2023 PB. Not sure if the gas pedal vibration / grinding is the same issue as other vibrations people are describing, but my cursory reading up on the issue suggests that this has been a complaint for years across across all powertains.

My 2018 Tacoma had the “35 MPH rumble strip” issue and that drove a lot of owners nuts trying to figure out. I’m just resigned to the fact that every car I’ve owned since my 2002 Civic has had a really obnoxious driving quirk / characteristic. I’m not suggesting that I want to go back to a Honda Civic… just saying that modern cars seem to be better and worse all the time

Initially I felt the vibrations only through the gas pedal. Once they balanced the tires and rotated them I felt it strongly throughout the truck. Now it’s in the seat and pedal. That’s why I was so sure it had something to do with the tires. But supposedly they swapped out a different set of tires/wheels and it still had the vibration. The difference seems to be that my dealer used sensors throughout the truck and the tech drove my truck home, a considerable ways away. They told me that the vibration was pinpointed towards the rear of the truck. They sent the raw data to ford who decided it was the driveshaft. But I’ll know soon enough.

I’m still waiting on the driveshaft. Last week I took my truck back and will bring it in once the driveshaft arrives. It was only supposed to take a day or two, going on three weeks.

They replaced it today after receiving it last night. On the drive home I didn’t feel that odd vibration kick in and the gas pedal didn’t vibrate. It felt much smoother through the 60 mph range and I got up to 87mph and it was smooth. It was super windy and I’m still very vibration sensitive. So tomorrow will be another test day.

The vibration is definitely gone at any speed. There is a slight, slight variation at times in the gas pedal. But I believe that is a different thing altogether. So they did a sensor test and based on the frequency Ford determined that it was coming from my driveshaft.

The paperwork said that the dealer used a VCMM vibration analyzer.

What a debacle but without that VCMM sounds like it may have been a FINMP situation (f*** it not my problem). You've got a great dealership. Make sure you hook em up on a survey. They'll never forget a heartfelt survey. The dealer-customer relationship can be the difference of you forking out thousands for something reall expensive right out of the warranty period too.

The residual “slight vibration” is coming from new driveshaft or you’re referring to the original issue?

Before the driveshaft was replace I could always tell when I hit 70-73 mph without looking at the speedometer. It was also at various speeds, that’s all gone. I still get a little something in the gas pedal. The dealer definitely put the time and mileage to find and fix the issue. The dealer initially just did a regular tire balance and said that all of the tires were out of balance from the factory. When they balanced my tires the vibration was stronger. The said they test drove my truck afterwards but I documented my mileage and they never tested out the truck. The the tires were never mentioned again other then they swapped out another set of tires/rims during the initial check. I’m bringing my truck to a really good shop that have helped me in the past for a road force balancing just to make sure. But otherwise it’s so much better.

NB what dealer are you using, I'm in NJ as well and have been through 3 dealers (30 days cumulative), multiple balance, a complete new set of tires and the vibration test but have gotten nowhere. I get a slight vibration through the gas pedal and a heavy vibration through the steering wheel along with a bit of wandering. Didn't want to go this route but moving on to BBB complaint

I'm in the exact same situation, I can't seem to get anywhere with the local dealerships either. I'm thinking the only way out of this is contacting a lemon law attorney.

On mine, the gas pedal vibration (with intermittent grinding sensation) has been reduced with a replacement IWE and, anecdotally, warmer temps. It’s still there, but it’s livable. Let’s see what happens when next winter rolls around.
I’m assuming you’ve driven another similar one on the lot and no vibration? I haven’t… so no basis for comparison.
