Picked up a 2024 XLT October 2024 - right from the very next day after I bought it, I noticed a vibration at idle. It’s a very consistent tempo - if the dots were vibrations it would look something like … 1 2 3 … 1 2 3 … 1 2 3 … (approx 3 seconds between vibrations consistently)

I have a mag safe phone mount and I can notice the vibration in my phone screen when secured to the mount, the reflection when the screen is off shakes and distorts the in line with the vibration

My wife mentioned she could feel a slight vibration in her feet while we were parked waiting for a train to clear the road - I had never mentioned this issue to her!

Booked the truck in with the Ford Dealership and after watching my truck not move all day on the FordPass app, they called and said they couldn’t replicate the issue and did not find anything wrong.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this issue, thanks in advance

I would be interested in any reply to this issue.

My ‘23 5.0 idles perfectly thru 26k miles. It’s a little more stout than my previous 3.5, but there is no noticeable cadence to concern me.

Keep an eye on it and see if it gets better with a new tank of gas, etc. If not, keep taking it in.

Just my 0.02 cents.

Yeah the new tank of fuel was something I had tried, even switched where I purchase my fuel hoping it would make a difference, no luck!
I do plan to keep taking it in but, I use my truck for work so it’s hard to give it up for a day

I had a mustang with water in the gas that caused all kinds of issues with idle and warning lights. It spent an entire weekend in the shop. They drained and replaced the gas and it was perfect after that.

Keep an eye on it and let us know if you figure it out.

Did you buy it new with very few miles or was it a demo or recent trade in with mileage? I bought mine in May '24 and the date of manufacture was May also.

I purchased it brand new, less than 5km (Canadian)
Just wondering if there's a difference in fuel quality, climate conditions, and driving methods in your part of Canada as compared to mine here in Texas. We have extremes in climate conditions and the recommended octane is 87 with variations in that as well.

I have a 2021 3.5 ecoboost that does the same thing although it isn’t as much as it was when I bought it new. Hardly noticeable now. Seems to help it when I consistently run 93 octane shell gas.

My 2024 seems to do the same thing. Even the exhaust pulses seem uneven. As you probably know the firing order on the 5.0 truck engine is different than the Mustang, so it runs and sounds different.

The firing order for a Ford F-150's 5.0L Coyote engine is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8, while the firing order for a Ford Mustang's 5.0L Coyote engine is 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2.

The truck engine is smooth at idle when I touch the oil filler cap. So the vibrations I feel could be harmonics from the exhaust and/or belt driven accessories. I suggest you feel for vibrations at the engine itself.

My prev truck, a 5.4L had a very smooth idle in both feel and sound.

Also, the 5.0 does have a catalyst warm up program that even adjusts cam timing. Makes for some funny sounds. So make sure the engine is fully warmed up when you feel for engine vibrations.

my 21 idles a little bit rough until it warms up. I haven't noticed any type of rhythm to it though.

Hello ,Yea i notice it most of the time, mostly in the mornings , I also have a 2024 f150 5.0 exhaust note even sounds uneven , like if it had a small cam , more noticeable for me since I have a muffler delete .

Regarding the idle issue (rough, etc.). Since new in May '24, I notice on every start-up that the idle is running at about 1,500 RPM due to the automatic choke apparently. Then after about a minute, it decreases to around 850 plus or minus. It's only after the engine reaches it's programmed operating temperature that the idle/stopped-in-gear RPM decreases to around 500. Since moving to Ford from GM after many years, I suppose I need to get acclimated to the operational nuances and accept that this is normal. Returning a new pickup to the dealer for diagnosis and hopefully repair is an exercise in futility. I have always allowed adequate time for both engine and transmission warm-up before driving since the modern engines are designed to efficiently operate at a higher temperature.

always use fuel cleaner in your gas tank every 2,000-4,000 miles. they're cheap to buy and keeps the engine happy.
