Hi all - I had new tires put on today and noticed on both front wheel well liners the bottom screw is not screwed into anything. There is a metal clasp on the back to hold the screw in, but it's not attached to anything else. See pic attached. Want to see if this is normal or maybe the tire place broke something during install.

Just noticed this on my 23 after getting it back from the body shop from a deer.. thought they had left something out when putting it back together.

Thinking of making a metal L bracket to give it something for support…

It's normal, I drilled a hole through the liner and zip tied the thing to the closest bracket.

Poor design -- they need to rework how they do the front liners entirely. They're way too flimsy / free floating.

Okay, so I just got my brand spankin' new 2025 F150 PB and noticed this same thing on both front wheel liners. I was sitting there looking at it and trying to figure out "okay, well this clearly isn't correct. Where should that sheet metal screw actually attach to?"

I couldn't see anything obvious, so searched here. Well, so I guess it really is supposed to be that way?

The passenger side liner was actually "pushed" back, kind of creasing that corner slightly, wedging it in to some of the supporting stuff back there.

Since there's really nothing for that corner screw to attach to, I guess the zip-tie option might make some twisted sense. As was mentioned in another thread... zip ties on an $80K new truck. Kind of sad. But I don't want that thing flopping around.

I noticed this on my 2023 Powerboost too.

I think it’s normal.

My 21 is rock solid. Probably a cost cutting redesign.

My week old 2025 is the same. Doesn’t appear to be a big deal. I’ll leave it be.

Yeah, when I got down and really looked closer at it, it does seem like it's "by design" to be floppy in that lower corner. However, it just looks wrong. :) That and the fact that the front right one had the corner kind of folded in funny made me wonder.

Maybe the dealer did something on that front right though. I mean, I'd only put in about 2 miles when I got it home and noticed that when I did a thorough exam. My truck came with a dealer installed option of the wheel liners or whatever so maybe the service bay guys did something strange.

Anyway, I used some long zip ties (black) and kind of threaded it on the back of where that screw and bracket poke through, wrapping the rest of the zip tie around part of the metal frame back there. From the outside you can't even see it really, and mostly closes that strange gap.

My main concern was that it wasn't supposed to look like that and the factory or dealer did something, but since it was the same on both sides, and others here say that's normal, well, I guess so. I'm happy enough with a zip tie fix I guess, and doesn't seem like it will add any stress on anything it shouldn't so I'll see how it goes. If it seems like it's wearing on the liner where the tie is attached, I can just cut it free and try my best to ignore how it looks. LOL

When I got mine, the passenger side front was flipped up and slightly bent the plastic front retention thing. Almost as if they had to access something at the fog light at the factory and just left it. Had to use a heat gun to get it back to where it belongs (the plastic thing, not the liner).
