2024 platinum plus pro access tailgate

I plan to order a platinum plus but I have seen conflicting info out there about the new tailgate. Some have said late availability and it’s not mentioned on Fords build feature. I asked a local dealer and his response was they haven’t been told that it was not available. Does anyone have anything more concrete?

The new tailgate is included with the Bed Utility Package however as you point out is showing late availability.

I also was going to place an order for a KR as have a $2k PCO which expires in couple of weeks however this is one of the features I wanted so guess am waiting until availability can be confirmed.

I just ordered my 24 Platinum Plus kind of a strange build because it wouldn’t let me add the spray in bed liner with the platinum plus I would of had to downgrade to a basic platinum.. also was wondering about the pro access tailgate I have no answers on my build either I also contacted ford and they had no answers I’m wondering if they’re going to build it with a standard XLT tailgate which would be ridiculous or if they’re going to push my build date up until the new tailgate is available since ford did say that it is a standard feature on the platinum plus!

When ordered my 2022 Lariat I added the BAP and it had late availability. I ordered in January 2022 and it was built at the end of Aug 2022. There is no exact way to know when that means for the tailgate but be prepared, it could be very late in the 2024 build cycle.

Best I can tell after asking some dealers is that Job 1 builds will likely not include the Pro Access Tailgate. Check out the KR on the build and price. The new tailgate is standard for KR - still says late availability. When you do the configurator, there is no mention of the new tailgate save for the description under the Bed Utility Package (which also is where you find "late availability"). What you do get is:

I seen the renderings and I can't think of how you would get a tailgate step into the tailgate of one of these new Pro Access Tailgates. I think that since it is including the tailgate step, you will not get a Pro Access Tailgate on these Job 1 builds.

I was personally disappointed the Barn door style was not like Rams but i still love the Tailgate Step .

I believe you lose the fold-out tailgate step if you opt for the pro-access tailgate.

The video of the tailgate step WITH the barn door tailgate is NOT the tailgate step built into the tailgate.

It's a step that's below the bumper and it kicks out from under the truck with your foot. It's wide enough for one boot.

That's what I was getting at. I think that they will build Plats and KRs, just without the tailgate. If you look at the Build and Price, it says that the Multi Access Tailgate removes the Tailgate Step (see below). So if it has a Tailgate Step - it does not have the new tailgate. As I showed above, currently the KR build has Tailgate Step listed, which means they are going to build it without the new tailgate until they have the new tailgate. Unknown if they offer a BS "delete" credit for this, I would guess not since you ordered it with the Tailgate Step. For some other reason Tremor is a late availability, but they have not said that KR and Plats are. If you want that new tailgate, you are likely going to need to wait until Job 2 to ensure you get it.

Will be interesting watching the updates on this. I assume ordering with the fancy tailgate they won't build those trucks at all until late summer 2024.
