Just curious if it is possible to change the drive mode to a specific default and avoid having to answer the system question at every start-up. I suspect it’s probably not doable via the typical Ford GUI and likely something I could only do via some creative forscan programming.

Thank you in advance for your collective insights.

Default is default and isn't configurable. Some vehicles do have the ability to default to tow/haul but not sure anyone really wants that in the F150.

Tow haul / eco / sport at least asks if you want to return to them on startup of which you must press okay to accept else you're back in normal.

Ah yes, the age old question. Nearly everyone wants that...but I'm afraid that 'Normal' mode is probably tied to some EPA BS, so Ford has probably gone to great lengths to ensure that it cannot be permanently set to any other modes...but this is all speculation.

Your best bet is to buy a tuner/aftermarket calibration from Livernois or similar. This is also the only way to seemingly defeat the speed governor. But also not sure how 2024's fall into the aftermarket tuning yet, 21-22's are easy, 23's it got more complex (need to either swap engine control computers, or travel to the tuner to do it in person).

You'd make a lot of people really happy if you were able to figure out how to lock it into a drive mode though, so it is an opportunity to be a hero! haha

It's setup this way on purpose for the same reason you have to turn auto stop/start off every time you drive it. It's how they can claim their fuel mileage numbers.

Last I looked into Livernois, the 2024's are still locked and can't be tuned yet. 2023 needs to have the PCM replaced with an unlocked one hence the extra cost and/or travelling to them in person. Hopefully they can figure it out eventually as they have some additional tuning for the PowerBoosts specifically that sounds really nice.

You would think it would default to eco mode if that was the case

eco mode doesn't do anything that you can't do with careful driving in normal mode. It mostly just gimps the throttle response and air conditioner. Sport and tow/haul modes on the otherhand make shifting pattern changes that driving style can't counteract.

I have a 2024 RCSB 5.0 4x4 and got tired of the auto start/stop. I found a small gizmo that you just plug in behind the glove box that keeps the system in disable auto start/stop. The button just thinks that it is depressed all the time. If I ever want to activate the feature, I just depress the button.
I no longer have to activate it every time I start the truck. The gizmo cost me less than $100 and has probably saved much more than that in wear and tear on the starter. It took less than five minutes to install and would take me less to unplug it.
You may be able to find something like that to help fix your problem.
