2021 Job 1 Trucks that aren't getting updates

I used a Mongoose and FDRS to manually update my truck last weekend. I got it as far as 4.2.3 that way. This afternoon 4.2.4 updated via OTA.

I go pickup my new to me job 1 2021 in the morning. I'll reset everything and figure out getting FordPass to recognize that I'm the owner. Stand on one foot and say Ford backwards 3 times when I get it home. Maybe it will magically update. I think it's on 2.7.3 thanks to rugedraw checking for me. Probably will end up doing the Mongoose thing eventually.

You should also call Ford's 800 number and make sure they have your name and address as the current owner. ?

Doubt they are around on weekends.
Never needed that in the past but I suppose it might be necessary if info doesn't get to them in a couple weeks.

I can validate that driving for a good period of time helps get updates. Until last Sunday, I had not received an update since Feb 16th. I left Jacksonville and went to Key West for work and received 3 updates in 3 days. It could be a coincidence or not but now I’m on 4.2.3.

The forums are full of people that have gotten several 4.2.x updates throughout the past few days, including my own truck that I have driven maybe 4 miles in the past two days. Ford is aggressively pushing this update right now.

@rugedraw seems that way. I remember that you were saying that your CarPlay was skipping while driving, and mine did the same thing while driving through Miami Both going down and coming back. Same spots. It must be something there.

I use AA, but yes, it was skipping and it got much worse with 4.2.1. I have not driven much since I got 4.2.2 yesterday, but it seemed better. However, I also got an update for Android Auto yesterday, too. The thing is, I hardly drive for extended periods of time to really test things out with phone calls and the other things I was having issues with.

I just got 2.6.0 a few days ago on my 21, have only had three updates in the past 24 months. Dont get hung up on being behind, the updates I have received so far are not something I could not have lived without. Maybe someday it will be better than you can say Hey Ford and the truck will respond.

Funny you mention skipping. I got 4.2.1 on Tuesday, all was fine with wireless android auto.
Wednesday I get 4.2.2 and it starts skipping badly. I had to use it AA wired.
Then I got 4.2.3 today and it's not skipping at all on wireless.

I also noticed that my truck is down shifting a bit more aggressively now when I push it. Driving normally is smooth, to be honest I like the slight kick I get from the gears now

Not worried about it yet. I'll see if it will update on its own before messing with it. This is a big upgrade from my 2011. Lots more buttons.

Any idea how old this is?
I looked at the Excel file I don't see this version in the list.

I cannot use any camera on road so I think it's fairly old.

That's from the first half of 2022. I was stuck there until last weekend when I manually updated it myself using FDRS. You have several large updates before you are current.

That is the the Sync version you get with 1.7.1. It is possible that your truck has gotten 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 since those two updates don't give you a new Sync version. OTA 2.6.0 is the one that gives you Sync 22087 which would be the next one for you.

I'll give it a little bit to try updating on it's own before I go with the Mongoose. It might like me better than the last owner. ?‍

Lot of new stuff to play with now before I dig into updating it via laptop and using Forscan to play with a few things.
