I guess my truck was "Job 2" since the major change came mid-July 2021 and mine was built in November.

I know this partially because my truck (as ordered) was supposed to have a physical "Snow Plow" switch on the dash which was replaced by a Hill Decent switch and the Snow Plow activated through a touch screen menu instead.

I was a little disappointed by that until I used Hill Decent on an off-road excursion. Hill Decent is awesome! It really gives you the ability to focus on navigating ruts & boulders on the way back down the mountain.

That said... the only update I have noticed was the last one which made my cameras go all wonky but they fixed themselves after a couple days.

The last 3.5.3 campaign failed last week on my truck for the second time. I jumped in it today and to my surprise, noticed the update icon, and 3.5.3 was installed! Not sure why it suddenly updated and fixed itself today, but I'm happy it finally updated!

Did the FDRS thing so I'm curious when or if my job 1 will ever update OTA.

Are job 1 2021 trucks getting that new update for the IPC?

I didn't see it show up in FDRS unless that was included in the one IPC update I did.

It was resent to you 4 days after it failed the second time, and that time, it finally went through. ?‍♂

You don't have to worry about OTA's anymore. The 4.3.2 IPC update has been sent to very few trucks. I don't have it on my FDRS list, either. No need for concern......yet.

Not worried, just mainly curious if future updates will actually work. I expect they will but won't know until it happens. I updated to the missing features I wanted. I doubt there will be more for me other than bug fixes since I don't have blue cruise.

I manually updates twice because I got tired of waiting for the OTA that gives you full screen capability. The second time I updated, I updated what would be the equivalent of 3.5.3 and 3.5.4. Once all the 4.2.x updates started coming out, I got them within a few days of the first reports. Unless Ford drops the ball and drops an update that is difficult to install OTA (like the 2.7.3/2.7.4 IPC updates, 2.8.1 that required the vehicle to be inhibited for 1.5 hours and would fail due to battery drain and 3.5.3 that gets stuck downloading the last files it needs and times out), we should be good to go.

I think I missed these.

Hey rugedraw, can you check my VIN?
1FTFW1ED1MFC71162
Thanks!
You got 4.2.3 today and have been steadily getting updates. You're good to go.

I joined the club. Purchased a BlueCruise capable 2021 Lariat stuck on 2.7.4. I called the Ford OTA support who told me to wait a week for the BC update. A week later they told me to wait a month because the 21G01 BlueCruise update is on hold.

I'm learning a lot from this forum, but is there any hope I do get an OTA update or will I have to manually update to get BlueCruise enabled?

VIN: 1FTEW1EP0MFA48276 if anyone can check the details.
Thanks!
2.7.4 successfully installed for you on 4/22, which is good as that one is difficult to go through. The next one you are due is 2.8.1 which is even harder to get to install. If you don't already have one, get yourself a 10amp+ AGM battery charger as you will need it when you get the OTA trigger.

You will eventually get the update if you wait. However, 2.8.1 has a high fail rate, so even if you get the update sent to you, it may or may not go through. Bluecruise programming is on hold since January, so a month may not be enough time. It is on hold due to an issue with the IPC update of the process, which you already got via OTA. My truck was not able to get 2.7.4 to install OTA which is what caused me to update manually, so your truck made it farther than mine did on its own.

Thanks the help @rugedraw

I ran the manual FDRS updates this weekend. I now have bluecruise, full screen carplay, etc. It took two days, but everything is up to date. Sync shows the latest version, but the overall software version still shows 2.7.4 as you saw.

Will the software version 2.7.4 somehow realize the underneath updates are done and show the latest version? How does that software version numbering work since I manually updated everything with FDRS?

Anything else I'm missing?

Nice! I see you are on Sync 23031 which is the latest and greatest. If you did all the update on FDRS, your truck is sitting with 4.2.4 software. Based on your original question, I checked OTA history and not current status. Seems like you are fully update to date until something gets released.

My truck is currently at the dealership for this issue. I feel that I may have an uphill battle with them.
could somebody check my VIN so that I have a background of what is happening in case they want to take me for a ride and tell me they cant "recreate" the problem, want to hit back with data if needed. also, what software is required to see this data?
2021 XLT on my "about Sync" page I get no software version filled in, no rev either.

Your truck is exactly what this thread is about. Your truck is on Sync 20301 which is known to be bad software that breaks the OTA process on early 2021 trucks. Your truck has never received an update an is on the software from 2020 that it was built with.

Tell your service advisor that your truck has never received an OTA and reference Ford TSB 22-2402. They connected your truck to FDRS and performed a trailer module update yesterday for the recall your truck has for that. I would call them right now. They need to manually update/repair your APIM or diagnose it as faulty and replace it with a new one.
