Once it gets released, it can come OTA or it can be done fdrs. With the help of the resident guru, we used to be able to get around this hurdle, but Ford messed up the loophole he had found and now we can't do shit about it.
Well, I guess the waiting game continues then. Thanks again for the help

If you still have the original battery, I think it is time to replace it. The only other thing I can think of would be when FDRS asks if the update went through and you select no, try installing it with the CAN process. It'll take hours, but updating via CAN has a high success rate.
Haven’t upgraded battery yet but did install a monitor and here’s the initial reading.

That would be below the threshold for an update to successfully install.

Thanks you for the advice! I studied batteries in this forum. Was thinking the X2 Power from batteries plus but some seem happy with Walmart batteries. I don’t mind spending more for a good battery.

ok, new OEM battery installed and charged. I reset the monitor. I may get a license and drive deep back into this. Goal is to successfully update APIM.

Update: new battery in. New windows 11 laptop, latest FDRS, new license, doing the USB update. It knew I had removed Voice already and after about 15 mins I was prompted to turn the truck off and wait. I am doing that wait right now. It's been years since I've done a USB update, and I could not recall whether I leave the USB in the slot. I decided to leave it in until the update is really done. Will let you know what happens. Remember, the APIM USB failure used to come at about 5 - 6 mins. So once I passed that threshold today I thought I might make it.

UPDATE: Success. THANKS ALL FOR THE HELP

Now I'm in the same boat. USB c flash drive just sitting in the truck praying it kicks off soon.. Got a low battery warning the other day when attempting other updates even though it was a new OEM battery from Ford. Could possibly be defective and would be an easy swap out.

Have you tried having a battery charger on it to see if the update will go through?

Depending on what Sync version you have and the USB stick is recognized by Sync... just drive around and wait for it to kick off. You may need the patience of a brick. It can take upto 30 days to install. The rest of updates for your truck after this is a walk in the park.

Go to radio then sources...If the USB stick is listed ...the truck knows it is there.

Awesome yes, the USB stick is listed as an audio source. It's been about 10-11 days since I left the USB in there so I will wait towards the end of the month the warranty replace the APIM if nothing has updated by then. Just praying I get in my truck one of these mornings and the update has completed or is ready to install. One of my friends is a Ford tech and lets me use their laptop for FDRS so updates will be easy once I get over this hurdle.

Just have patience and make sure that battery is over 80% charged. If your truck is like mine you will get to 6.3.0 and get stuck again. All you can do is wait for Ford to release the next update to you unfortunately

Why does my truck think it needs to install 6.1.0 when I’m on 6.3.0? Is Ford’s OTA system really this bad.

I had to wait untill I got (I think) the TCU or GWM update for my Sync to clear in incomplete SS-NS update. Even when FDRS showed nothing was outstanding. It's a bug in software. Which one, I don't know.

Waiting game continues I guess. Wonder how many months it will take for them to push another update to my truck?
