2021 F-150 that has never been updated

I had my ground connected to the ground strap on the body by the headlight and the positive on the battery. My battery was the oem H6 battery so I tossed in a H8 because why not.

Don't forget the reset process.
Truck will (probably) figure out you changed battery if you didn't do it, but it leaves no doubt.

If you still have the original battery, I think it is time to replace it. The only other thing I can think of would be when FDRS asks if the update went through and you select no, try installing it with the CAN process. It'll take hours, but updating via CAN has a high success rate.

Yea, you just have to let it fail so FDRS gives you the option to try that method.

I didn't think APIM had a CAN option? ?

I thought they all did? I've never had to CAN an APIM (thankfully), but I thought that was just part of the way FDRS is scripted.

I didn't think they could CAN because then would do that instead of waiting forever for USB or doing some weird Ethernet mess. ?‍

I wonder if these members connected the charger/powersupply to the negative battery post and not before the shunt on a chassis gnd point.

I connect to the shunt beyond the post.

Great success! Time for round two of updates.

Wow. Two in the same day. Another guy here I've been helping via messages got his to take today and he's on Sync 21146 now, too.

Remember: Do GWM, APIM, TCU and IPC in that order as they appear. Doing one will release the next one of these based on the sequence they need to be installed in. All these will require the USB. Once no more of these are showing, then you can do the rest in any order. The other modules will not require the USB and you do those with the cable.

IPMA will take 3 hours and is tied to the PSCM; they have to be done back-to-back. Don't start either one unless you have the time to see them through.
