Dear ford BCM programming guy, if you accidently give us access to such capability, I got 20 on it.

I gotta agree the likelihood of it happening is small at this point since they're using the Walk Away Lock as an advertising point on the 24 Lightning currently and not enabling it on the 24 non-Lightning F150 models when they're fully capable.

Ford is out to make money. So they are not going to give something away if they can charge for it. Example - Blue Cruse, Nav, Alexa (free for me until Nov 24). You want auto locking, going to have to buy a Lightning right now.

The problem is they suffer from the inefficiencies / bureaucracy of being a huge entity. If they were a smaller or more nimble business, they'd have a developer's tool for skins / features and let people create skins for the IPC / APIM where they could be offered up for sale in an online store that'd OTA to the vehicle on purchase. Then they'd do what other companies like that do and take the good ideas and incorporate features / skin design elements that just make sense. It'd be like wallpaper / skins for phones. (using unreal for instance allows a whole other realm of things they're not tapping)

They've already watched what we do w/ forscan as they have our asbuilts on-demand. Now in 24's they're opening methods for modifying some notifications. When farley talks about "creating special teams" "like skunk works", he's openly admitting that the company needs a lot of work for streamlining things. Entirely too much 'design by committee' thinking going on. They can't pivot fast enough to take advantage of tech which is rapidly evolving.

Moving to castings for instance displaces some body jobs. But at the same time if they lowered costs, they could lower price (while improving quality as castings do) and increase units sold, keeping jobs the same or increasing due to additional demand. CEOs make the $$ to make hard decisions. The EV side is burning through $$ and they've got to do something other than create little one-off teams to produce a vehicle.

So the 2023 Lightning didn't get walk away?
Yet the 2023 Mach-E did? (my 2023.5 does anyway. Build 07/23)

I would have assumed the EV development between the Lightning and Mach-E would have more overlap than that.

MME is unchanged for the most part from 21-24 (though simplified cooling loop did appear in 23 going from 2 to 1), but 24 does get ford's new rear motor. 24 lightning gets 14v2 refreshes as well as a heat pump. No heat pump for 24MME. I was hoping the new more powerful APIM would go into it, unsure if encryption showed up or not.

I think moving to castings is a terrible idea for the consumer. One stress crack or casting flaw that's allowed through intentionally or accidentally will leave you with a totalled truck.
What about frame twist on a off road adventure? Dealer sorry you took your truck off road we can't cover your cracked firewall!

All good, but you did bring it into the conversation, we'll just have to revisit this in a few years, when the first casted trucks reach a 100k miles or so. Truce.
