My personal opinion, your battery itself may be ok, but the battery calibration could be bad in the BMS. Your truck may be ok with just a BMS reset after the battery is fully charged, and I think that may be all most vehicles need that have battery "issues".
That definitely hasn't been the case with mine. The dealer did a BMS reset twice and it kept having problems. It seemed to fix it for a day or two, but after 2-5 days it was right back to the same state.

Well just got back from the dealer. The battery was bad. They tested it twice and said it failed to hold a charge. They swapped it out. Only 2 years old and 14k miles. Guess you get a bad one some times. Covered under warranty at least.

If the 12V battery on a Powerboost is low enough, the truck can't start. The same thing happens with other hybrids and even electric vehicles. The 12V system needs to power up itself to get the high voltage system started to then maintain the 12V system.
If the F150 is set up like the Escape Hybrid, there is a main contactor/disconnect for the HV Battery. If the 12VDC Battery does not have the juice to pull in this relay then the Escape Hybrid won't start even though the HV Battery directly starts the engine in the Escape Hybrid.

This thread and comments are very helpful. I don't have this issue with my 21 Lariat PB. However, that is driven longer every day by my wife so maybe that's why I don't have the problem with that one. I purchased my 23 Platinum PB in June. The battery started acting up a couple of weeks ago with the notification "Remote Features disabled to preserve battery" and last week there was one time when I tried to start it and the dash lit up with warnings including the red battery and truck outline with the exclamation point. I tried a few times to start it and nothing. I opened the door and closed it to reset and it started. It's now at Brandon Ford for service to do a parasitic test. The battery was replaced when I bought it new last month because it sat on the lot for 6 months and was dead. This thread helped me identify that most of the trips I take are short, a few miles and that may be a problem. Hopefully I'll get my truck back in a few days. They gave a new Maverick Lariat as a loaner. Great dealership!

In my opinion, and that all it is, an opinion, a Powerboost is a nightmare to determine if it has a parasitic draw. At least using traditional methods. There are so many features in the truck that result in "waking it" just by approaching or touching it. Not to mention it takes 75 minutes for it to close its eyes and take a virtual nap. And even then, it's not really in a deep sleep, so to speak.

For ~$20 you are better off adding a little Bluetooth voltage monitor that logs the voltage 24/7

You don't have to approach or touch or wake the truck to see the "normal" parasitic draw that the Powerboost has no matter what.

Sitting in the RV, the phone can read the current voltage in real time:

You can then view the previous 7 days logs. (this is a 2 consecutive day log of a truck just sitting)

As you slide your finger to any spot on the timeline, you see the voltage reading.
The drop from 12.34 to 12.26 over 24 hours would be considered a parasitic draw to be found and eliminated on most vehicles in our past.
But NOT a Gen14 F150. ?
That's simply the 12V tax for technology

@Snakebitten great post. Do you think your BM2 module is drawing power that would reduce the voltage from 12.34 to 12.26?

Can you see the battery voltage during charging while driving? Does it show line voltage or battery voltage?

Just thinking this module might help folks diagnose a bad battery under load. Show big drops or spikes in battery voltage as load changes, etc

The draw of the battery monitoring module is so very teeny tiny that it's dwarfed by the draw of the modules in the truck that do draw on a parked truck.
It supposedly draws 1.5ma every few seconds as it takes a snapshot. That's 1 ½ thousandths of an Amp. :)

Yes, you can get a voltage reading from the app live while the truck is running. It's going to report it as "charging", and the voltage will be the realtime charging voltage. Often in the 14.X range.

After 7 days I got the truck back with a no trouble found. There were no messages on Ford Pass as indicated above during those 7 days. What they did share with me was this:

Ford F-150 2021 Battery issues kJZkes (002)

This doesn't explain the messages on the Ford Pass but it does address the one time I couldn't start it. We'll see if I have this problem again.

Yesterday I went out to start my 2021 lariat and it was completely dead, boosted it and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree with warning lights and messages, power steering didn’t work, Speedo didn’t work etc. I’ve never been able to receive OTA updates, could this be the issue? I tried to get the dealer to do updates. But I got every excuse in the book why they couldn’t. Now the warranty has expired, and I’m hesitant to take it to the dealer due to cost. The battery checks ok. Any advice?

I put it on a charger over night and tested the battery the next day and it checked out OK.

My 2 Cents:

  1. Bite the bullet and get a new H7 (PB owners) or H8 (non-PB) from a reputable store like Interstate, NAPA, Autozone or even Wal*Mart. I have had an Autozone Platinum H7 in my PB for over 2 years with no issues. Previously had the OEM battery failures although checking out as "OK"
  2. Make sure you do a BMS reset via Forscan or the Headlight/Brake sequence as detailed in posts in this forum.
  3. Make sure you drive the truck enough to charge the battery. Short trips of less than 20 mins will gradually eat away the SOC and leave you stranded.
  4. Get a battery minder/charger to keep the SOC when not driving. I use a NOCO Genius10 hardwired for easy connect/disconnect. This unit has an AGM setting for optimal charging and battery life.

I'm so tired of this truck and it's constant battery issues.

No dome lights last night, power off to save battery BS.

I did the H7 upgrade just moved battery issue to 2 years. Voltage is good it’s the SOC these trucks fight with. My battery has been on charger all day to get from 70% SOC to 100%. Reinstall and reset BMS🤞
