It's time to replace my 2012 F150 XLT 3.5 EB Max Tow w/HDPP. She's been a good girl with 120K and the only issues I've had is a water pump leak at about 100K. My current truck has a payload of 2270 with a GVW of 8200 and has been able to do anything I needed it to do.

I was looking at the F250 Godzilla for the payload capacity but didn't want to deal with a gas hog. I'll take a F250 for a test drive before I place my order but right now, I'm leaning towards the 2025 F150.

The three items that I must have: LED Headlights, power fold tow mirrors, and plush seats. It seems the following configuration fills everything I need.

Lariat High
Crew Cab
6.5 Bed
3.5 EB
Antimatter Blue or Rapid Red
Smoked Truffle with Max Recline Seats
Spray in Bed Liner ('I'll add a BAK Revolver cover)

I cannot see the value in power fold mirrors. I have not had this feature on any car or truck and that includes trucks with tow mirrors. The only time I might fold the mirrors is before going into a car wash.

I might add that my 2022 with the crew cab and the 6.5 ft bed has a terrible turning radius and I really do need to 4 cameras to be able to even make it through a drive-thru or to park at most locations. It was all that was available but I would have greatly preferred a super cab with the 6.5 foot bed.

Payload probably will be at or under 2k once you and options.
If you need more then the 250 could be better fit.

As He ^^^ said, a highly optioned truck drops the payload a LOT.

I could live with that. Just don't want anything south of 1500#

For the small price of adding this feature it’s well worth it. Parking spaces are tinny. Park fold and go. If someone hits a mirror and breaks it, the price of adding them is more then covered.

Used mine when navigating my '24 6.5'-bed KR out of a hospital parking garage.

They're also handy in allowing my vertically challenged wife get closer to the window at a drive-thru and not have to reach as far...

@CenTex_Steve - I expect my KR eats into the payload more than the Lariat you're spec'ing out. It rolled off the line with a #1544 payload capacity.

Your 2012 F150 XLT 3.5 EB Max Tow w/HDPP with 120K us still young. I have a 2010 XLT, 5.4L Triton with max tow has 199K miles on it and runs fine. At 199K miles I finally had to put shocks and struts on it. One caveat, I ordered a MY24 F150 Platinum 287 days ago and still no build date. So it looks like I will have this truck well past 200K miles, expecting Ford not being able to build the one I want. I may even have to wait for a MY25 at this rate.

It's part of the lariats and above. It's also on both of my vehicles. Mirrors auto fold.
Tow mirrors are a $250 option when ordered. I wouldn't have tow mirrors w/out auto fold unless I didn't live or operate the truck around other humans, or trees/trails.

I have tow mirrors now without autofold. There are times when I have to bring them in and the touch of a button would be nice!

You can upgrade if you want. Assuming your mirrors are in good condition and you can get at least 600 out of them, you're still looking at around $1k to upgrade after selling your mirrors.

I went to the dealer today to order the 2025. I was also wanting to look at a couple of colors in person. I looked at the Avalanche & Darkened Bronze (have the Golden Bronze now). I didn't like either of those. It's good thing since these colors are discontinued for 2025.

They weren't ready to take my order yet. I've nixed the max recline seats and second guessing my color choices.

I would kill the 502a and go with 501a , no sunroof, no fx4, no smart hitch , no max recline, no unleashed stereo

Get max tow axel, power folding mirror, if you are going with tow mirrors the power folding is very nice option.

this should get you around 1700 payload

I looked at a 502a that was fairly loaded and it was 1500 payload. With max tow axel, moon roof, fx4, power folding mirrors

i am trying to figure out what weighs less the PAT or power tailgate step just not a lot of trucks with PAT on lots yet around me.

XLT 302a is a great value if you don't mind cloth. They are very comfortable.

The lariat 501a is also a great way to go if you want Leather, ventilated seats, and 4wd Auto, but it's ~ 7K more on an already expensive truck.

However, you have to go to 502a to get the Max Recline option. I think it's mostly a gimmick though.

If you get a powerboost (no cost option), you can forget the FX4 package, since you get an E-locker anyways. You'll also get the generator and A/C idle without engine on.

A powerboost can have 1600-1700 lbs of payload if you don't get options like a sunroof, tailgate step, giant wheels, FX4, power running boards, ect. Most 302a's have mid 1600s -> 1700 lbs. Barebones 501a's, probably 50-100 less. Go for a 502a, and I'd probably start to look at a 3.5 ecoboost or 5.0 for more payload.

5.0 with trailer tow gives you the 3.73 and that's super fun. It's a great powertrain too.

Good luck and post pics when you get it!
