1080R Wierdness in a PowerBoost Going Into Reverse

Sometimes, and seemingly only at first start/drive of the day, the transmission acts like it's in both reverse and drive when I place it into reverse.. The drive train is locked and is going nowhere. Considerable power will make it "lurch" and it will then reverse out. As I've become accustomed to it I now notice the lack of I dunno, shift, or maybe take-up of play in the drive train and now simply drop it into drive and the back into reverse, and it's instantly correct.

No, the parking brakes are not on, the brakes aren't frozen, nor is this "auto-hold" (which my 22 KR PB doesn't have). There is no, as i NO motion leaving the transmission (as there would if it was moving and working against a brake or etc..

Ford keeps up with the "cannot replicate" which I believe, for it does it no more than every other week for me too, so I'm more trying to help them and me find any leads. Anybody seen this?

Suspect fluid level low or the trans aux pump is failing

Sounds like you got a transbrake for free. In all seriousness, perhaps a valve in the valvebody is sticking in its bore and is shaken loose by going to drive and back to reverse?

Mine did exactly the same thing, I got a real smart tech at MGM Ford Lincoln in Red Deer and he fixed it the first time, the truck never did it again. If you want I can message you the tech notes if that helps.

Mine does this, as well as jerky/sloppy shifting and a strange shift from 1st to 3rd sometimes that will then flip flop between 3rd and 8th or 1st and 8th.

Been through the TSB for the 10R80 for the CDF drum up to overhaul or replacement. Going back to the shop on the 19th for a pan drop and depending on what they see it’ll be overhauled or replaced under the TSB.

I hope you get that drum replaced, the valve body on mine was just shot, the tech functioned some of the solenoids on the bench and you could even see they were sticking although my transmission was filled with filings.

My valve body was the same as what you described, replaced and flushed and was good for a bit but symptoms are all returning.

Ford called me this morning. This time they're doing a full rebuild and performing all TSB updates while in it. I suppose I'd have rather had a new replacement, but we'll see.
