Nice Corona shot you got there! A real keeper with the truck too! I have to get back to Fairbanks sometime.

That is breath taking. You are lucky my friend. I live about 20 minutes east of St. Paul in Minnesota and this is what I got.

A Bucket List thing for me.

I've been to Alaska and several other places northern enough but always in summer. In Alaska in June, it never really even got dark.

HA! Buy lots of Merino Wool layers and head there in Feb for the show! :) Also those plug in battery pack hand warmers are life savers.

Thanks for the tip on the timing. I do remember one trip to the Minneapolis area at Christmas time but it was -30F and other than an afternoon ice fishing, don't recall a lot of outside time.

I was hoping to see them (the northern lights) on some of our western trips but to tell the truth, I was kinda disappointed with the night sky viewing. Even places like the Tetons, Mesa Verde, The Badlands etc. I was hoping to be blown away but I think the combo of western fires in recent years and that there are still dark places here, the contrast wasn't as great as I was expecting.

I felt the same about our trip to Montana in august. I thought for sure I would have seen a sky like I’ve never seen. Unfortunately with some cloud cover and being somewhat close to a larger town (Livingston), it wasn’t what I wanted it to be. Maybe my expectation were to high. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

We've been pretty unlucky with cloud cover plus the lights being lower to the horizon where I live :(. I have been lucky enough to catch them a few times in the past but it would still be cool to get somewhere north enough to see them in their full glory.

(Crappy cell phone pic from last year)
