Hi all, truck has been in for the last 25 days for Powertrain malfunction/ reduced power issue.

yes it’s not majorly inconvenient, and could be worse. They are addressing everything so far under warranty no cost to me.

has anyone however had any luck with any goodwill gestures from Ford CS directly?
discounts on accessories? Additional blue cruise access? Discounts on an extended warranty?

I’m not looking to milk my situation, but it does stink a little making payments on a truck I can’t even drive.

I just came over from Ram. I'd be incredibly thankful for what you're already getting. They just tell you they don't have loaners usually. That being said, you won't know what they're willing to do without asking.

You're already getting about all their going to do for you, be happy they gave you a loaner and a loaner truck at that. My dealership had my truck in early 22 for a month trying to correct software issues. The loaner they gave me was a shitty Pinto or Escort thing that sucked! When the truck was returned unfixed, parts on backorder, the interior door panels had greasy boot prints and scuffs all over them. Plus, a dead battery from sitting for a month on the lot with virtually no work having been done to it except a lot of looking and coffee hours spent in it by the techs.
Instead of looking for "perks" I'd get on the phone asap with Ford customer service and tell them, I want my truck repaired and returned asap before further potential damage happens to it on their lot.

What state are you in? Look up your state's lemon laws. Your situation might qualify you as having a lemon which would get you a full reimbursement or replacement depending on the law. Washington state has a lemon law of this nature.

On a side note I would drive the hell out of the loaner truck and let the dealership see you racking up thousands of miles on the truck. They themselves might make a phone call to Ford if you put 5,000 miles on the truck in one month.

Seems good way to guarantee you'll never see another loaner from that dealer.

Probably not likely. I suppose it's possible you could try to talk them into an extended warranty depending on how the situation ends up. 25+ days in the shop is a long time.

I think this is the most likely scenario of getting compensation.

When my truck was in the shop for over four months waiting on parts, Ford was gracious enough to make two of my truck payments for the inconvenience. I had a loaner that was paid for by the person's insurance who hit me but regardless, it wasn't MY truck and I was paying for while it sat in the shop. I wrote a letter to the CEO and a representative contacted me and made the arrangements. Although it was a parts issue, Ford was doing all they could to send what was needed. They were easy to work with and very understanding. I can't say anything bad about Ford and the way tried to make things right. I found out - be respectful and they will be respectful back to you.

I sympathize with you entirely. My V8 had the #4 cylinder decide it wanted more freedom in its life on August 5th, so I've been without my truck with no estimate on parts availability since then. Much like you I've been given a loaner XLT, but much like the others have stated here the vehicle you are given is set by the dealership, (unless you go the rent it yourself and hope to be reimbursed route) and that means they can place limitations on you and even swap it out on you at any point. Per the contract they just need to provide you with a vehicle.

My limitations are no leaving the neighboring state area, no more than an average of 100/miles day for the duration, and once it gets close to 6k miles I have to bring it back and get swapped into something else, hopefully not another god forsaken Edge. I've even had to bring the loaner in to have recall work done on it.

All the while my truck, that I'm making payments on and my ESP coverage slowly ticks down on, sits in their back lot waiting for a short block and cylinder head that may never come. Although I suppose it could be worse; my service advisor told me there was an F-350 ambulance back there that's been waiting for an engine replacement for over six months. So I'm sure my low priority privately owned tuck will definitely get one soon.

For all of that, I've been offered nothing more than the loaner as compensation. By the dealer or by Ford corporate. My plan is to wait out the winter with the loaner (keeping the 4x4 is a must up here) and if there is still no estimate by February/March, begin the buy-back process and roll everything into a '24.

Because apparently they can find engines to build new trucks, just not to repair the ones they've already sold.

Depends on your state. In MN after 30 business days (so like 35-40 calendar days) your vehicle is eligible for a buyback if it's not usable or not safe and the dealer has it.

You would call ford customer service and if approved they either buy it back (give you what you paid), give you full msrp towards a new ford (at full msrp) or do a "cash and keep", you keep the truck, they give you a check.

After 30 days in the shop, I got a MasterCard covering a month's truck payment.

When my truck was in for almost 2 months last year, I contacted Ford customer service and they did reimburse me for 1 month of my loan payment (over $800). Via a prepaid visa card. The only real downside was that my loaner was a 2-door Honda Civic! I would have definitely preferred my truck for mid June to mid August!

At the very least an extension of the blue cruise trial and warranty for the amount of time your truck is inaccessible seems reasonable.
