I'm hearing of a wide range on the cost of the hybrid battery replacement/out of warranty. Does anyone have an accurate price?

Have you had to do this yet? The battery warranty is good until 100,000 miles

Hybrid battery failed and was replaced on my truck at 42,000 miles and 2 years old. The cost was $62 because I also got an oil change :like:. Dealer gave me a number at the time, but it's not written on my invoices because it was all covered under warranty. If memory serves, they quoted about $7500.

In my mind hybrid batteries are like transmissions when it comes to repair. They have fairly long powertrain warranties and in many cases they last the life of the vehicle. If you do need to replace one you have options. A new Ford unit installed at a Ford dealer will be at the high end of cost, and a used unit swapped in at a 3rd party shop (or diy) will be the low-end. In between are various 3rd party remanufactured and rebuilt options with different warranties at shops with varying reputations. There is no single price, just lots of options which can be frustrating.

That all depends on where you get a replacement battery from and labor if you decide to not do the work yourself. You can get a new HV battery pack for around $2600 +/-. Labor is what is going to be the big ticket. The driveshaft and fuel tank need to be dropped out to remove the HV cell. Then possible coding may be needed for the replacement HV bat pack so the BCM knows the cell's age.
