ECU module programming guide using FDRS

So going through this process for the first time, have a 2021 F-150 KR. When trying to do the APIM update, it puts some files on the USB drive, but they are super small, only like 384kb is used out of the 28.9GB available. Is this normal? Seems like a really tiny file size for any actual kind of update...

Have a 32GB USB formatted in exFAT. Do I need a larger USB, so it has like 32GB of available space, after format? Because this one only has 28.9GB after format?

It may a script to remove the voice files in order to make room for the apim update itself.

32 GB is fine and exFAT is correct. Name the drive something short like Ford or FDRS etc (longer names have been troublesome in past). APIM are typically 4-5 GB at least but here in post a few pages back, jfalat, one of the first to update with the latest version of FDRS said his USB loaded with smaller files at first, so maybe that is a new thing. I don’t know

So if that is the case, it will remove the files, update the manifest on the USB, then when I have it run the APIM update again, it will then check for the removed files? Then it will download the actual update?

Well, they got me fucked up if they think I'm paying them anything anymore. Unless something ground breaking comes out that I can't live without. And even then, unless it's an APIM update which I don't care about at this point, I'll have someone get me the files and do it myself. I don't need karaoke. My truck is working fine as it is.

i just spent 1281.00 bucks to renew the shops... long story but i have been trying to get the subscription to update and it will not.. talked to both ends of ford with no help.. each group saying you need to contact the other.. the wont even refund my money... i just about give up with this stuff..

Their stupid new security system is so secure, they can't even figure it out. I've heard of a few stories like yours. It's a shit show right now.

I was at my dealer today for a front end alignment, and while I was there, I asked the service writer to pull up my VIN on his PTS. It showed the usual ACM and BCM as well as a ITRM. This is the first time an ITRM shows up with a update. I have never had one even listed on PTS, FDRS or anywhere. I didn't know I had one. A TRM/TBM are the only ones listed up until today.

Has Ford somehow added a new module to my truck OTA? Or have they simply changed the name of the trailer module to ITRM -Integrated Trailer Relay Module ? Inquiring minds want to know.

I don't remember seeing ITRM either.
