Hey all, I got rear ended by a high school kid the other day. Fortunately, it was just a "kiss" with a barely noticeable scratch.
Im looking for a trailer hitch that will act as sort of a bumper/barrier to getting lightly rear ended.

Id rather have the person at fault end up with a busted grill and radiator, than me with a pushed in rear bumper

Hope me request makes sense. I dont need one that sticks out 2 feet.

Depends on the height of vehicle, a low rider will slide under and a lifted vehicle will be over

Aren't these things illegal in some states?

Trailer hitch’s or trucks?
LOL. I'm pretty sure some states can write a violation if you have a trailer hitch receiver in without towing something. Not sure it's ever enforced but one of these things might bring some attention. I'm all for them actually.

Yep seems to me that if you add the hitch (something to do more damage) permanently, you eliminate space that some one could or may have been able to stop and not cause damage. JMO

Focusing all of the force into your trailer hitch is a GREAT way to bend your frame, requiring frame straightening or totalling your vehicle. The bumper is there to spread the force out.

maybe I’ll just put a cedar 6 x 6 in the bed and have it hang out about 4 feet and put a red flag on it, then I’m good

I believe that would fall inline with following too close, also a driving infraction.

As would almost any rear end collision! But there is no reason to help cause something that may be preventable. Reality is, the hitch is meant to “cause” more damage to the person at fault and won’t stop any damage to the vehicle struck.

good to see you Ron.
