For those with an STX or other gen 14 with OE column shifter ...
  • Do you have to step on the brake with the truck On in order to move the shifter out of Park?
  • If you shut-off the truck with the shifter in gear, does it move itself to the Park position?
  • If you open the driver's door with the truck running and in gear, does the shifter move itself to the Park position?
Just seeking confirmation that the answer to all 3 is "Yes", as it is with the console shifter, rather than assuming.

TIA

I was all in for the Cyber Truck with the original 6 passenger concept model, but when it came to reality it was a 5 passenger....I passed.
Huh, I didn't know they let blind folks drive. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Just kidding!

My 22 XLT PB does all three.

This absolutely freaked my wife out the first couple of times when I pulled up to check the mail and hopped out without putting it in park and it moved the shifter talk to park automatically. 🤣

I'm confused about the people talking about the "flimsy" console shifter. The console shifter on my 2024 is definitely not "flimsy". Am I missing something?

It's in the perfect spot to rest my hand and I'd never go back to a column shifter. Are you all pining for a 3 in the tree transmission as well?

I have zero complaints about the console shifter in my 2021. I just think some folks prefer the feel of the old school shifters that were linked physically vs. 'shift by wire'.

It strikes me that having the 'stow' feature is Ford's acknowledgement that, at least for some folks and/or some of the time, the console isn't the most convenient location for the shifter lever.

YMMV, and no worries about that, but for me the column shifter, as on my 2005 F150 and every other automatic I've owned over the decades, has always proven a convenient yet out-of-the-way location for the gear shifting lever. Shift-by-wire or shift by mechanical cable has nothing to do with it for me, and nothing about that preference even hints at wanting to move back-in-time insofar as any design or technology.

I'd just as soon have that long-proven convenient shifter location and recover the console real-estate for holding crap, if that can be done at what I consider a reasonable price and effort for the benefit I perceive (replacing the steering column doesn't meet my reasonable-effort test).

Everyone's calculus for that value will be different (again, no worries!), and I'm certainly not making a commitment based on preliminary / incomplete info, but I hope @Infotainment gets this to the market so I at least have the option to consider.🤞

Don't like it / think it's silly? Well, I might say the same about any number of mods other folks find worthy of their dollars and effort.
