I recently purchased a 22 f150 Lariat with about 78k miles on it with a ford extend bumper to bumper warranty. the warranty is 5 years 48k miles. i know the warranty doesn’t cover wear items like suspension and brakes. i’m looking at throwing some 35s on it after i just completed a 3 inch level and new upper control arms. if something were to happen to my powertrain (engine or trans) or my differentials would the warranty be voided for having bigger tires? does anyone have any experience with something similar? considering the truck is made to tow 8k pounds it in theory should easily be fine but i also know ford will void anything they can.

thanks

According to your post, you no longer have any warranty. Nothing to worry about.

I have a 2021 with 37" tires and a BDS lift and Fox 2.5 shocks. When I had a lower ball joint go out my dealership covered it under the Ford extended warranty, no questions asked. Maybe I got lucky?

Pretty sure the ext warranty and power train warranty is over.

Your post says your truck has 78k miles.

You stated extended warranty is 5yr - 48k mi (assuming the warranty is like other - 5yr/48k - whatever comes first). The 48k mi. came first, warranty expired when it hit 48k miles.

Standard F150 power train warranty is 5yr/60,000 mi. whichever comes first. Your truck exceeds that too.

What I have noticed at my shop when they come in for a trans problem and they sent out a adjuster and they see bigger tire they wont warranty it
figured, i might get another set of wheels and just swap them over if something happens

Did you buy the truck from the dealer new and added the warranty at time of purchase, or is this a used truck?
Ford Extended Warranty is confusing, for the lack of a better word. When you buy it with a new truck - say you buy the 8 years/100,000 miles - the number of years and miles start "counting" at day one, so technically, a 8 year/100.000 miles will give you additional warranty on top of the 3/36 of only 5 years/64,000 miles, it is not 11 years/100,000 or 11 years/136,000 miles.
Confusing, some may call it a marketing scam.

Common parlance on your warranty would then be 8 yr/125K miles. Easier to determine warranty limits from date of sale/total miles than doing the math to back out 3/36.

As to your question. what ever excuse they can find to deniy coverage will be employed. As has always been, and always be, the case. Mod at your own risk. What's your relationship with your dealer?

when i purchased the truck i also purchased an extended warranty that’s why i phrased it as additional 5 year/48k mile. i don’t know the dealer at all. i purchased the truck from a different dealer that my dad did a lot of business with and somehow still got screwed so we’re not happy with them right now. but i figured it was a mod at my own risk scenario which is why i only have a level on it for right now until i find out what is actually covered because the dealer gave me no paperwork on it. looks like i may just have to purchase another set of wheels and tires and swap the stocks back on whenever i take it in for service

I get what your saying ! You bought a warranty from Ford Dealer or a after Market warranty from lets say Joe Smow or Joe Blow ? Ask your dealer where you bought it or where your going to have it repaired . They have the answers your looking for. Warranty's from Joe Smow or Joe Blow don't want to pay for anything . Been there done that.
