Been tossing around the idea of upgrading and I love a great deal. Would you all ever consider a hail damage vehicle?

I saw a 24 XLT powerboost brand new only 8 miles for 40k even! MSRP says 68k!!

what would you look for and would you care if it had golf ball sized dents all over??

I would not pay $40,000 for a vehicle that has golf ball sized dents all over it. If it is repaired then it will likely show up on a title search so less to pay going in and you get less for trade going out.

Sorry should have specified it was the hood, right side of the vehicle and the roof. No glass was broken

Personally no, I would not, I am more particular than that on my vehicles. But, with that said you are the one to climb into in everyday, if you don't mind then buy it.

Depending on the color, and a clear title, I might be game. Hoods, fenders, doors are easy to just replace with good shells. The bed side I would take on a PDR tour to see who could tackle it. You could save a ton!

And nobody will see the roof.

Black and it is a clear title. Manufacturer warranty intact

Well you need to determine if you have the time and skills to pull it off. The parts should be able to be found in auto yards around your area. Black is a more common color. Add up their prices and get some estimates from the PDR guys. See if you can save more, than the time it will take you to switch panels over. Then see if it is worth it ...only way to tell at this point in time.

The math is pretty simple. It will cost you about $10K to fix heavily damaged truck and make it look brand new cosmetically.

My truck was severely damaged by hailstorm couple years ago. It was fixed by local shop and my insurance policy covered the cost. That includes replacement of the factory trifold bed cover and cracked rear cab light with integrated camera.

Buy it, enjoy it, and wait for the next hailstorm to solve your issue. Meanwhile, it will drive as well as any F150. I had a friend who got a deal like that on a Tahoe. Said he would fix it. Never did. Has 200K on it and still going strong.

I have hail damage and waiting in line for paintless repair. I’m hoping they can remove all the dents. We will see and if I’m not happy I will be looking at a 2026.

I would check with your insurance company. I looked at one years back and my insurance guy said they wouldn't cover it in another hailstorm since it was already deemed one.

I would not. I want a mint truck, not a discount on a damaged truck or project.

Depending on how bad the hail damage is and you might be able to have a pointless dent repair company fix the most noticeable spots it for a fairly reasonable price and still be well under sticker price for it.
