Update...it works!

I now have HDC and Rock Crawl modes.

I was super confused during the install as my harnesses both had a wire in the spots listed as needing to be tapped...

So I just threw a Hail Mary, plugged in the switch, modded the FORSCAN and boom!

So on my 2024 STX the factory already had the correct wiring run...lucky.

Now if I could just figure out how to make this auto climate trigger my AC compressor ?

Nicely done!

To access the switch did you only have to remove the center speaker to access it?

I have a 2024, so I am hoping that I am pre-wired for it, and wanted to minimize the amount of trim that I have to pop off.

No center speaker on mine but I did take off the panel that's in the same location. However, you could just pull off the front trim piece and use a pick or small screwdriver and get the switch out that way with some effort.

However, I'm not sure if it works without the Hill Descent Control?

Additionally, per the instructions on page 1 of this thread...I used those FORSCAN codes but ended up having to vary the order in which i entered them...i.e. Rock Crawl then the other 2 to get it all to work...YMMV!
On the '23's you could add rock crawl mode without hill descent control. That having been said, I never tried using it after I added it.
I cannot get Rock Crawl to show up in my modes after trying forscan.

2024 XLT.

I ordered the HDC switch, will arrive next week.

Works like a charm! I referenced Livnitup's Forscan spreadsheet to make my changes, being a 2024 things were different.

I only had to pull the trim piece directly over the buttons, no need to take anything else off. I used one pick to push in the tabs, the switch comes out from the front. Took 10 minutes start to finish with Forscan changes.

I tested that everything works including HDC.

Annoyed that my buttons don't perfectly match the ones I had, notice the traction control one is angled, where before the left side was straight. I thought that I had ordered the right part number, I guess not! I just ordered ML3Z-13D730-RA, which looks to be the right one for me. I had ordered KA.

Oh well!

Where did you find the value on adding rock craw to your 2024 on the spreadsheet. For the life of me I can’t find it in there.

my 2024 was also pre wired and hill decent work by just swapping out the switch. Just trying to activate rock crawl now.

Glad you got it working. Ironically, I ordered the switch that you need initially and needed to return it for the one that you currently have.

Installed hill descent control on my truck today, pretty painless process - though a little nerve wracking taking those trims off for the first time. Mine was a Platinum, and didn't see anything in the original post about the trims that extend all the way out to the center console. I found it easiest to remove them at the rear, then after all the clips are out they slide out rearwards at an angle. To re-install, I lined up the front clips first, sort of at an angle (attached a picture) then once both the front tabs were seated I pushed in the rest of the trim to seat the clips.

I may not ever even use this feature, but I'm glad the buttons above the screen are all the same size now :)

I was also able to get the button out in a minimally intrusive way, I used a screwdriver to pop the "inside" tab and my finger could get the outside one pressed in. I bet if you manuevered carefully enough, you could get it out by just popping off the upper trim and peeling up the front edge of the speaker cover trim piece.

Like you, I will very likely never use it. However, once I saw this thread, I knew that I had to have it...

I've got a 2025 502A with park assist (non FX4) and I'm having troubles finding the right part number. My current switch centered above the screen is a single large park assist button. I've checked FX4s on the lot and they have a split / multi-function switch centered above the screen with parking assist on the left and HDC on the right.

I think the part number is SW9022 (TL3Z13D730BA) but can't confirm as it could aslo be SW8957 (SL3Z13D730DA) . I'm also not sure if this is pre-wired or plug-and-play like the 24s.

So I'm working on this mod - thanks a million for all the details. I've added the wiring into the connector near the APIM but in Australia we have a different button configuration than what has been shown here. We get a combination of hazard and traction control switch, which i can swap out for a combination hdc/ traction control switch no problem but I will then need to reroute the hazard wiring into a separate switch. From some reading it looks like that will require depinning pin #2 on the switch plug and running it to the new hazard switch, then refitting the new hdc wiring into pin 2 of the existing switch plug (hope this makes sense).

Has anybody done this or had the same config?

Do you have the ability to use the third slot on the far right that has the blank insert instead of moving around all your wiring? You should be able to put in a multi or single large HDC button on the right instead of messing with what exists. I'd imagine there's wiring in the harness already for a third spot, or one could be added

Good news: For my 2025, 302A Lariat PB, I can confirm the part number for the Parking Assist / HDC switch is SW9022 (TL3Z13D730BA) .

Ford F-150 Adding Hill Descent Control to a non-FX4 4WD Screenshot 2025-08-26 200754

Bad news: The HDC button does nothing when pressed. Parking Assist still works fine though. Based on the first post, the wire is populated, but I do not have a diagram to reference for what goes to what.

Would anyone be able to provide this connector pin-out diagram for 2025MY, and potentially help find the value for HDC?

Edit:

IPC Module: setting Hill Descent Control: Disabled > Enabled == no changes

ABS Module: 760-04-01 (xxxx xx8x) (AS BUILT format) [Originally 0] == No Changes- Check Engine on, fine after DTC clear, cannot get Rock Crawl mode to appear

ABS Module: 760-03-01 (*xxx) (AS BUILT format) [Originally 9] == Set this to "B", everything seems to freak out, ABS TC etc all disabled, DTC faults galore, had to revert back.

Not sure what i'm doing wrong here

Would love to see you get this working as I want to add the same switch to my 2025 XLT. Hopefully someone can chime in

I'm being told by someone who seems much more knowledgeable than I, from Reddit, that for my 2025, even though the wiring is in place and the button is installed, I need to side load a F10A file from a truck with HDC to enable it.

Then that can create an issue with the encryption. The counter may get off on the messages. So if we flashed the file it may need to be reauthenticated in fdrs.
Over my head honestly, not sure where i'd be able to find the file, or anyone local who may know how to do this... MY2024 got off easy with this one.
