yeah, they've teased it, but I don't recall seeing any specs. What would you guess they're going to do versus what you'd want them to do, or tell us both, haha :)
Yeah, a press release isn't a product. They seemed scatterbrained for a minute but the writing is on the wall. The diesel is a really healthy price jump. They could hybridize it for cheaper giving it better capabilities. By going robust on the hybrid part they bring in regen braking which would give the hybrid a leg up everywhere but long distance towing. Around town the hybrid would own it. They need to give it a proper cooling loop so the ICE can shut down while shedding heat.

So do you think they'd use the 5.0, 6.8, or 7.3 and keep is NA ?

What? A PB super duty? Please let it be a non plugin 7.3 with 50A PPoB?
Gimme a plug-in version plz, I'd like to have at least 20kWh of nearly free traction energy!

As long as the ICE can fully charge the bank given time!

You'll be able to select how it behaves and drive modes will keep it where it needs to be like when towing. It really needs to go intelligent though like when you navigate, it knows the terrain / conditions and will charge/deplete as needed for regen/etc. When you go to climb a hill it will have power ready and when you go down one it should be depleted enough to gobble it all up.

I love that! Tow/haul currently maximizes HVB SOC for a just in case scenario it can’t see coming. How cool if it had situational awareness via nav and telemetry. Heck, give me some manual controls straight up why don’t you while you’re at it. Isn’t that what we’ve been doing tapping the brakes to force EV or HVAC fan to step 5 for max 12V recharge?

My buddy drags around a portion of his plugin hybrid work vehicles’ battery pack because we don’t have a charging station in the parking lot. I don’t want that limitation.

Edit: 2 different topics lol

Slight tangent... Is there any benefit to the 7.3 godzilla v8 in the Super Duty compared to if they slammed the PB powertrain into it instead ?
I don't know what Ford will do or should do, but I purchased an F350 XLT CrewCab Longbed (176") with the 7.3/10R140 yesterday.

Ford F-150 F150 Hybrid Towing Range? 268212516

I needed a second truck to tow a second RV, so I will pull the 31' condo with the Godzilla, and the little 17' toy hauler with the Powerboost.

ProPower will serve both RV's.

Once Ford (or anyone) builds a ProPower 1 ton, I'll happily swap this 2024 in for it, and give my youngest son my Powerboost. (and he can tow the toy hauler)

If Ford is just going to build a barely-Hybrid like the Powerboost, but on the SuperDuty chassis, I hope they do use the Godzilla.
But if they want to blow us away with a cutting edge EREV SuperDuty? I don't care what ICE they use as a generator.

Tesla already uses terrain data in their routing. They also incorporate wind data and it's smart enough to alert you about distance to charger based on parameters including suggesting slowing to a speed based off of how much charge you tell it you want in the battery when you arrive.

Now they could get wind data from cars in front of you -- they should be able to see it both impacting vehicles in your direction of travel as well as benefiting those coming the other way. Currently at least they just incorporate traditional wind data from the various sensors located throughout the country. Essentially if you want 4% battery on charger arrival, if parameters are anomalyous it will tell you to slow down to a certain speed while also telling you the SOC if you don't. It's pretty much idiot proof.

There's no reason that type of granularity shouldn't already be baked into ford's nav system right now even w/ non hybrids. Combine it w an intelligent hybrid system and it should always be able to maximize energy usage which would be particularly useful for a PHEV that has enough power to not turn on the ICE. There's no reason for anyone to be launching a PHEV today that needs the ICE in order to achieve typical traffic acceleration capability.

Do you think they would actually create a Super Duty PB and if so, what do you think the most logical configuration would be to get let's say 7.2kw in one ?
How do you feel about Ramcharger?

Fascinating!
Incredible concept.
I'm seriously enamored.

But I'll believe it when I see it, AND it's performing at least as reliably as the products I already own.

Admittedly, I'm an optimist by nature.
But the world is kinda upside down and I'm more sceptical than I have ever been.

Yeah, the whole "we're prioritizing shipping it" turned into "well, next year!?"
That combined with just how bad their EVs have "performed", or haven't for that matter.

Regardless how it plays out, ford has really squandered their "lead". Even the real pioneer of hybrids couldn't release a comparable product. Really disappointed in their lack of progress. The PB is pretty much 5 years old now and still the segment leader, granted there's only 1 other competitor right now.

Stellantis is a broken company. It sure looks like they are dressing up the balance sheet for sale. I did this stuff for a living some time ago. If you want to sell a company you tease with new products but hold back the investment to make them happen to make the financials look good or better. Then troll for a sucker to buy the company for more than it is worth. RamCharger is a great idea but they need to spend a lot of money to make it happen and that is a problem.

I rarely turn on a television except to watch grandkids movies. But I could swear I saw a Ram commercial at one of the kids house and it was something about Motor Trend truck of the year and the word "Ramcharger" was boldly on the screen for a few seconds. Some blonde dude was in the cab of the truck.

It all happened so fast that I couldn't grasp the dialog, and the sound was down.
