Really?Only the power boost models have that
Yup, that's been going on for a while. I remember reading an article in some car magazine probably 20 years ago about BMW being the first company to do that to "enhance" the driving experience. Over time more manufacturers have started doing the same thing. To make it sound "better" when you buy a vehicle with the smaller engine. Jaguar did this in the FPace with the horrible 2.5L I-4 engine, when people loved the sound of their wicked supercharged V6. BMW does it, as well.
Uh, It’s common knowledge.Really?
Do you have a reference for that?
Not to be in your face about this - I am genuinely curious.
Did you buy this new?I don’t believe I have heard fake engine sounds in my 21 PB.
OK, now I get it. My wife’s mustang has the 4 banger and it has fake engine sound played inside the cabin. The sound discussed by the OP is from the external speaker.Did you buy this new?
Does the reverse boing sound still work?
Wow……didn’t know the mustang had a fake internal engine sound. That’s awesomeOK, now I get it. My wife’s mustang has the 4 banger and it has fake engine sound played inside the cabin. The sound discussed by the OP is from the external speaker.
I had a 2015 f150 Lariat and know for a fact it had the fake engine sound. It made a growl when you gave it throttle. I don't belive this truck had it but curious if it could be enabled via forscan just for fun.Yup, that's been going on for a while. Ford has been hit or miss in which models they do it but I know my wife's previous 2020 Mustang with the 2.3 Ecoboost had an "Engine Symposer" system that would add extra noise to make the car sound more aggressive, especially when it was switched into Sport+ or Track mode. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Explorer has a similar system. I can't tell if my 24 PB has it or not but it does have a more grumbly and aggressive sound inside the cabin when giving it a good amount of throttle vs my 2011 3.5 which I know did not have any fake noise. It's borderline to my ears if it's fake noise or not and I haven't delved into Forescan yet to play around with that value but the Gen2/3 3.5L trucks do make more engine noise externally compared to the Gen 1 so it could be natural.
I did some light research after I posted but couldn't find anything definitive on the new trucks. Some people say yes and others say no. The only YouTube video I could find was for a 13th gen 3.5L. I know from my truck that the sound doesn't change or get louder when I go to sport mode, which was a thing in the 2020 Mustang I mentioned above. In that car you could easily hear the difference in noise between normal and sport+ modes.I had a 2015 f150 Lariat and know for a fact it had the fake engine sound. If true Ford has discontinued it then because the Eco Boost engines used to have it at least in the Gen. 13 trucks.Uh, It’s common knowledge.
It’s only there because the electric motor supposedly makes the vehicle so quiet when it’s running in a parking lot. I own power boost. I’ve owned Eco boost. I’ve owned a 5.0, only the power boot has it.
