Received last night!

I got an update yesterday that is similar, but different.

Software update Enhanced Connectivity and Power Management 10.1.1

Statement reads:

Your vehicle now displays improved connectivity and power management, helping to reduce battery drain and ensuring reliable remote access from your mobile app. This update enhances your overall driving experience by keeping your vehicle's systems running smoothly.

Software updates are designed to help make your vehicle better over time.

No idea what this means. I don't seem to get as many updates as others do, so it's a surprise when I do. At this point, I don't worry about it. As long as my truck is running fine, I'm good.

Spreadsheet updated to reflect mystery no-name APIM OTA that only updates a file files in the 8060 location within the module. I say no-name because it literally has no name. I came across it looking up a VIN for a member with an issue and I have never seen it before. His truck is a 2022 5.0 501a; not sure what trucks will or will not get this. In his case, it came between a GWM and the 10.1.0 OTA that gives you the latest Sync software.

Looks like you may have accidentally removed the spreadsheet from the first post, AGAIN. :D

SoC and capacity are low. SoC is at 70% and capacity (assuming you have the OEM H6 battery) is at 45 of 70. You gotta charge your 12v up.

Thanks for that VIN check and tip.

I've got an Everstart H8 with about 18-months on it (bumped the target SoC from 80% to 90% with FORScan when that was installed) and admit that lacking any starting issues I'm guilty of not monitoring volts, SoC, or using the Noco for an occasional top-up. In the weeks before you ran that check I'd had unseasonable cold weather, driven infrequently, and only very short trips, all conspiring to invite the problem no doubt.

So, since then, I put the truck on the Noco 10 (and also saw another OTA update failure, the 4th attempt I believe).

OBDLink MX+ in the iPhone is now reporting 12.6 to 13.2 volts (it fluctuates a bit) and 96% SoC.

But I've not seen another notice of attempt to schedule or install the failed update on FordPass or in the truck for a couple of days since the 4th failure (?).

Questions ....

Does Ford's system 'give up' on scheduling OTA updates after some number of interrupted attempts to install? If yes, is there anything to be done to jumpstart that?

OR, should I just chill-out, do a better job of keeping on top of battery condition, and expect that OTA updates will eventually continue trouble-free as they have for 20 previous updates?

Thanks as always for your guidance / assistance!

Unless the OTA trigger gets canceled on the server, once an OTA trigger is activated for an OTA that requires the vehicle to be inhibited, the OTA trigger will remain active and try to install the update for 30 days. In your case, the battery stats eventually met the needed specs, but the OTA failed due to a hash mismatch, so something happened on the server side. You will have to wait for it to be resent. You now have an HVAC module update pending.

Optimized Airflow for Your Comfort

This update improves your vehicle's Air Conditioning system to provide more consistent airflow from the vents, helping maintain a comfortable temperature inside your car.

Aside edit - my battery SoC dropped from 98% when I parked it last evening to 88% when I checked it this morning after the update.

New update today, what in the world does this even help or do? Seems odd and dumb, unless you use the FORD Navi I guess.

Is this DieHard unit not good enough for use during the update process? Does it really need to have the "power supply" feature?

I would also like to get a charger/maintainer that can be permanently installed under the hood with a quick disconnect. I believe there have been posts in the thread about someone doing that, but couldn’t remember what unit they used and haven’t found the post again yet.

I'm using the NOCO genius 5 which is regularly recommended on this forum. I fed a quick connect through the front of the grill and it works great. Note that I still use a separate unit that acts as a power supply when I do updates

You’ll want one that can be a power supply if you are doing an FDRS with Mongoose cable module-update-a-thon. That way the voltage will stay high enough. Also make sure it can charge AGM battery.
