My '09 Lariat has been a great truck but is getting long in the tooth. I was leaning hard toward a new XLT Powerboost or Lariat Powerboost, but reading the posts about F-150 quality on this forum is pushing me away. Is Ford quality that bad right now? Appreciate your seasoned advice.

What forum can you go to and after reading up get the feeling you wouldn't possibly have an issue if you bought a 2024?

It's a risk assessment without any guarantees of trouble free ownership. It's just the times. Has been this way for several years now.

Anecdotally, you can search for threads happy threads and find lots of folks reporting trouble free Powerboost trucks. I know that mine has been awesome, short of a sheared axle bolt a few months back. I'd buy this truck again in a heartbeat.

Yes, a 2024 F150 KR PB is worth it with the upgrades over a 2009. (I had a 2011 F150 5.0 Lariat) I had a few issues with my 2024. Like with any new vehicle, work with your dealer for any discrepancies.

My new 2024 had a few things 'wrong,' but I worked with the dealer and got all of them fixed. 1,500 miles later, and everything is great. I love the new features compared to my 2021 F150 KR PB.

If you can find a 24 501 for 10k off, that'd be really hard to beat.

2021 King Ranch PB. Too many little glitches to suit me. I've had it shut down at a stop light, folding the shifter down into the console. I've had the retracting running board retract at the wrong time, an ongoing curiosity where I have to reopen my driver door to get the passenger board to redeploy for my wife. Sometimes a big clunk on shifting, which may be coincident with engine startup from electric. Just two days ago it stranded me in the hot sun in a parking lot. I was waiting for my wife who was in a store, the engine on to provide a/c. The engine shook and shut down. A code popped up that said "stop safely now" and would not go away. After googling it I found that it would likely reset itself after some time period if left alone. It did, but I was severely pissed that I was stranded in the heat for so long. I am considering trading it and never looking back if this is the quality Ford has come to. Aside from two Pontiacs, Ford is the only make I've ever owned starting in 1971. Driven a bunch of other branded company units provided to me, but only owned Fords. The '62 Falcon was my first. This truck has 85K miles and I'm sorely tempted to get rid of it before 100K. This hybrid experience has been a disappointment.

I might add, the additional fuel economy vs the added cost will take you 10 years to break even. The added power is fun when you need it, but......

Mechanically, my PB is a great truck. It has some major annoyances, but outside of 1 issues (which was avoidable) it's been reliable.

* These trucks are very sensitive to dying 12v batteries (the good ol car battery under the hood). Mine started throwing crazy errors when the 12v battery started to die. New battery and it's flawless.

* I do run into an issue when driving at high speeds (75mph plus) on warmer days for long durations (2+ hours). It will almost inevitably throw a powertrain warning light. This always resets on next startup. I'm pretty sure the hybrid system goes whack on long drives. Truck still works just fine.

* The software has a bunch of glitches that are mostly annoyances. Mostly just things not turning on with the truck. For example, about 20% of the time my backup sensors don't work. Another 20% my infotainment screen takes FOREVER to turn on.

My only genuine complaint with this truck is the payload capacity. Mine is just over 1.3k. I'd REALLY like it to be near 1.6k that's more common on the non-hybrid configurations. For me, I want to put tent camper on the bed (~300lbs) and still tow a small trailer. It's just not really possible when we get the entire family loaded up.

That being said, our F-150 quickly overtook our other car as our road trip vehicle.

Unfortunately the Quality Control dept at Ford is run byClowns & supervised by a bunch of Monkeys. I have a 21 Platty EB, which is one of the best trucks I have ever owned..

My last two trucks were a 2008 F-150 King Ranch and 2019 F-150 Lariat. Both were really good trucks with no issues and were very reliable. We have a 23 F-150 Tremor now and have not had electronic glitches or gremlins, does the ota update fine, no mechanical issues, and gets decent mileage on 93 octane gas. There was a major headache though; wife and I were in SW Colorado in July on vacation, when the air conditioner decided to intermittently stop working. Wife was extremely unhappy! Dealer at home did a tsb and fixed the problem. So far so good with 11,000 miles on the clock.

This was not the case for me. I had ordered a Lariat EcoBoost then changed to a PowerBoost just before it went into production. Because of the MY24 PB Incentive of $1900 off, the PB was less expensive, so I added the 7.2 generator capability. The extended service plan wasn't any more expensive because I had the hybrid, so I saved money right from the start. I love the truck. Put 4500 miles on it in 30 days and my only problem has been a rock into the windshield. Power and gas mileage have been great.

I have a '22 XLT PB. Lots of promise, absolutely no delivery. I've never owned a vehicle that's had so many problems in my life. Stay far away.
