I had numerous issues with deep sleep, failed OTA updates, walk-up lights not working, etc. Ford, of course, said battery was in spec.

I replaced the battery with my own coin, reset the BMS in the driveway, and haven’t had a single issue since. ~260 bucks or whatever it cost was well worth everything working as it should now.

I got the free oil changes for life when I bought my truck. I asked them 3 different times to check/replace the battery. They said they were aware of the issues with these trucks and the OEM batteries, but Ford's protocol was that they had to charge the battery, test it and only then if it tests bad they were "allowed" to replace it under warranty. Of course, after charging the battery it always came back in spec. I guess I was just hoping that the dealership would replace it out of it being the right thing to do. That doesn't seem to be the case.

I have been dealing with the power save mode, entry lighting not working and missing updates for about a year now. Luckily it has always started even if when it sounds like it doesn't want to. I will be replacing it out of pocket before winter hits just to save myself the headache of working an already frustrating 12hr shift to come out to a dead truck.

When I replaced mine, I kept the OEM battery and took it back to the dealer. Of course it tested fine... We're so far beyond the time when Ford stored trucks in the field for months that I don't think that's related. What ever is going on I think that the Ford battery contractor is using a bad alloy mix.

thanks guys for the input. i may go the same route, just pay out of pocket for a new battery instead of back and forth with dealer and/or use battery tender.

for those of you use non-Ford OEM batteries, does the battery save mode issue completely gone away after you switch batteries?

I have one of these Walmart batteries charged up in my back seat as I try to decide if I want to stick with my factory battery a little longer. I had some issues and had to charge mine up the other day but of course since I bought the replacement I have had no issues. I’ll keep it the full two week return period before I decide.

if you go this route, note that the listing says 800 cca and the picture shows 850. It is indeed, 800 (at least at my local stores in MA).

i'm going to purchase the Walmart EverStart battery recommended here. which cca should the Powerboost be using, 750, 800 or 850? or does not matter which. thanks.

you will most likely only find one of the options at your store. I can’t remember what the OEM battery was (780 maybe?) but I would get something equal to or higher than that. Higher CCA is really only beneficial in colder climates

Is it still recommended to replace both batteries?

I only replaced the 12v up front battery, and have had no further issues.

It’s a 2022. Yes I have the little inverter under back seat to power the bed out let and front power point. Nothing big tho. I believe it’s the smallest one ford has 2.0

guess what? i called dealer today and ask if they can reset BMS for me for new battery i purchase out of pocket, they told me why waste money, we'll replace it for free. i was shock to hear that. now i'm contemplating, should i pay close to $200 for a non-Ford battery and possibly end this issue once and for all, or, give Ford battery another chance and get a free one instead.

Pay for it. People have had the battery’s changed under warranty still to have the same issue. Stock is H6 too small. If you do it go H7 or H8 if it will fit. Resetting the BMS is simple
