i've been having issues with battery constantly in saver mode when the truck is not driven for 2-3 days. i've posted threads in the other sub-forums about this. instead of a battery tender, i'm leaning toward a better battery replacement instead. yes, it will be out of my own pocket since dealer won't do that because their diagnostic tool never detects any issues with my battery. those of you have replaced battery on your Powerboost, which brand and model do you recommend? our Powerboost only accepts H7 AGM batteries, correct? thanks.
Duralast Platinum H7 solved it for me. Did the same - out of pocket. The time and hassle of back and forth with the dealer wasn't worth it, plus I was up in running the same hour.

i have the same truck as you, and yesterday had the powertrain issue happen which was really bad shifting hard into gears, low power etc. until i turned it off and restarted it. Do you know what the TSB # is??
I posted it in the thread you quoted me from.

how do you guys reset the BMS after installing the new battery? does it reset by itself? or do we have to perform a sequence of action? this is for a 2023 Powerboost to be specific.

There is a process to reset the BMS when you install a new battery. If I recall correctly, you put the truck in accessory mode, flash the high beams 5 times, then press the brakes 3 time. You should see the battery icon flash. Turn the truck off and you should be ready to start the engine and proceed normally.

Knock on wood, so far my 2 year old underhood battery hasn't given me a problem.

Now watch Karma strike my battery down.

From the factory my PB came with a H7 800 CCA.

Contacted my dealer again about the battery saver issue, my dealer is willing to swap out the battery for free via mobile service, that's pretty nice of them to do so. he said last time they reset the APAM, since the same issue still exist, so they will just go ahead and replace the battery.

My '23 PB often went into power save mode when new if I didn't take it on a long weekend drive. I do a lot of short trips to the gym and work during the week. I charged the battery up to full and reset the BMS, that helped greatly reduce the issue. I'd give it a shot before buying a battery.

Now if I'm not doing a lot of driving I just hit the remote start once in a while and leave it running in the driveway until it times out. That's enough to keep it charged and takes no effort.

i've never tried remote start. do you have to shut down the engine remotely afterward?

Nope, it times out on its own after 15 mins if you use the app. I assume the same if you start it with the FOB but never tried that. If you really aren't driving it much you can extend it another 15 mins in the app.

Note that I've been told by forum members that it will charge faster if you leave the FOB in the truck but I've never tested that.

Great thing is this is hassle free and doesn't use much gas as the engine runs very little but will still slow charge the battery even during periods where the engine isn't running.

but the excessive compulsive in me would want to get in the truck and make sure it's really shut off LOL. how do you know remotely if the truck is indeed shut off? being a hybrid, sometimes the engine makes no sound even when the truck is on.

You can just check your phone after a while. It will either show how many minutes you have left before it shuts down, or if the timer has expired it will show the standard home screen ready to start again. I've never had an issue with it.

time to revive this thread. i apologize for the long post. after the dealer replaced the battery 8 months ago, the deep sleep mode issue was gone, until last week it resurfaced again. funny thing is i have been driving the truck way more now than 8 months ago, and the fact it's still going to deep sleep mode really doesn't make any sense. i took the truck in for dealer to check, and of course they said no error codes on the vehicle. i noticed there's this OTA update 6.50 that's keep failing every night during the install, maybe that drained the battery? or, could it be the other way round, the voltage in the battery was too low so it was not able to install the update?

I read about the truck needs to be driven at least 30 mins a few days a week for battery charge stays in optimum range, this weekend i took the truck for a trip (around 700 miles round trip), after i got home, i immediately manually push out the update via the "UPDATE NOW" button, it worked, the update finally got installed. but this morning the truck was in "semi" deep sleep mode again, meaning I don't see the warning on the app yet, but the proximity light feature and dome light upon entry were off when i got in the truck. i think it'll go into deep sleep mode for sure tomorrow.

here are my options:

1. keep bugging dealer for another battery replacement, but even that is like crapshoot, depending on which batch of batteries dealer gets the replacement from.

2. get a battery tender plug in every night, seems ridiculous for a 80k truck which i do drive everyday. (need some recommendations on the battery tender)

3. get a battery charger and Fordscan, whenever this issue happens, charge the battery and reset the BSM.

which route would you go? or are there any other solutions to this? thanks in advance.

Just dropped an Optima yellow top H7 in my truck then did the BMS reset. $$$ but worth it, very impressed. I keep it on the trickle charger when it's sits for more than a day.

Don't know what the mechanism is... But I believe those Ford batteries are defective in some way. At the 4 month point, and while on the road for Thanksgiving dinners, I got some weird readings. Stopped into a nearby NAPA store and bought a catalog listing replacement battery. Wasn't smart enough to reset the battery monitor. When home I put the battery on a long term, low amp, "wetting down" charge. It went some 10 hours 'til the charger (an AGM type charger) said it was done. Two Wyoming winters since and alot of miles... not a peep out of the system since... Go figure... But my take is just go get a reliable battery from someone like NAPA and be done with it.

I had numerous issues with deep sleep, failed OTA updates, walk-up lights not working, etc. Ford, of course, said battery was in spec.

I replaced the battery with my own coin, reset the BMS in the driveway, and haven’t had a single issue since. ~260 bucks or whatever it cost was well worth everything working as it should now.
