I called back into the executive office to ask a straightforward question: If they’re still producing new PowerBoosts every day, shouldn’t there be parts available somewhere?

Their response was that it doesn’t work like that, and I’d just have to wait until parts become available again. They also told me they’ll check back in four weeks to see where things stand.

It’s honestly mind-boggling.
If only there were some "totaled" trucks sitting at manheim that could be used for parts.....

The relationship between the dealership and the manufacturer isn't just problematic in Canada.

There are plenty of parallel horror stories reported by consumers of vehicles sold in the USA.

Perhaps worse than ever though, post Covid. Or it certainly seems like it. These days it appears like dealerships and manufacturers are outright adversaries, when there's an issue. I personally think the trust factor has eroded to zero. At that point ethics doesn't have an opportunity to come into play.

No wonder litigation has become so common.

Being in Canada explains it. It sounds like the customer service I have received from every Canadian company I have ever dealt with. There is just a different attitude up there. Maybe they aren’t as afraid of a big lawsuit?

I do think the fear isn't there. It's a wild attitude, I don't know how between the trade in and the truck having over $100,000 in potential dealings, it's ok to just stop talking that quickly.

Ink hardly dried and dropped, maybe that's why I feel like I'm going crazy with this deal, the outcome and the general apathy.

TSB addresses the cause.
But without replacement turbos, it's a worthless solution for the customer.

The inability for manufactures to tap their assembly line supply chain for warranty repairs, when necessary, is a grievous shortcoming. So insulting to the customer.

Sept 12: The repair dealership reached out to touch base with me. They explained what happened with the turbos being pulled from the depot and apologized again for the confusion. The right-side turbo is still on backorder with no clear timeline.

They asked if I had spoken with the same corporate contact they usually deal with. I hadn’t, so they mentioned that this person normally steps in during situations like this to make things happen. They seemed to suggest that might happen soon, but I could have misunderstood.

I remain incredibly disappointed with Ford Canada's lack of regard in this situation. As I write this, the truck has been in the shop for 56 days. Still haven't heard from Meadowvale Ford since they started refusing to talk.

Sept 18: Got a call from the repair dealership, and they’ve officially started work on the truck! They began explaining that the turbo had arrived, but then the call dropped. Unfortunately, I’m working out of town in an area with no cell reception, so I couldn’t get back in touch after several attempts.

The next day, I left a message asking them to touch base whenever convenient so we could go over the details.

Sept 20: They called back and mentioned that the turbo had unexpectedly shown up on Sept 17, with no prior notice or heads-up. They honestly seemed a bit bewildered by it, saying they had no clue it was even coming. The guy had just stepped in from the shop and said they’re still in the teardown process, but the new engine is already set up next to the truck. So far, nothing beyond what they’d expected has come up. The tech also pointed out that the radiator air deflector could have been the cause of the issue.

They even remembered my request to take pictures, which I really appreciated. I’ll try to get those posted here once everything’s wrapped up. I also checked in about the loaner vehicle since I’ll be out of town until Sept 28-29, and they were cool with it, saying that should give them plenty of time to finish things up, with some room for any unexpected delays.

Hopefully, the next update brings this saga to an end!

This thread is wild. Im in Canada and this is exactly what it's like up here all the time. There are very little consumer protections and garbage service everywhere you look.

I fortunately have a found an excellent dealer and am sure it wouldn't unfold like this. But this is on Ford Canada too. I have been looking at trading my 5.0 lariat for an ecoboost and take advantage of the employee pricing, but between the nerfing of the 24's and after reading all this I think I'll just keep my current truck. They have very few 5.0s available. All XLTs which I don't want.

My 2023 3.5 non PB does not have the cut out. Do PB trucks have a different passenger side intake tube?

From what I've seen, the 3.5 Ecoboost is the same 3.5 Ecoboost in the Powerboost, sans the belt driven accessories. That's why your truck has the big dent in the intake for where the second expansion tank on the Powerboost fits.

I should be able to pick up the truck tomorrow. That would mark 71 days in the shop.

I had opted for a two-year lease with the plan to buy it out at the end. Given the rates, incentives, and everything else, it seemed like the best path forward.

As for Ford, they appear to be completely fine with a customer losing nearly 10% of their lease term (71 of 730 days) without the use of the vehicle. Legally, their only obligation in Canada is to restore the vehicle to its prior condition during the warranty period, with no real incentive to do it in a timely manner.

I’m genuinely looking forward to getting the truck back and enjoying the features I was excited about when I first chose it. As for the buyout at the end, after this whole ordeal… never say never, but it’s definitely not my first choice anymore.

Beauty of a lease in this scenario. Be interesting to see what they do for you when you hand the keys back at the end of the lease! I’d be shopping around hard if I was you.
