I know there's a lot of angst over Sync4 with some folks. But I'm 3 years in and rarely experience a glitch. I admit to using it pretty much the same way every day, but it's consistent for me.
Both phones always connect immediately. (I carry 2) On occasion I have to edit the roles of each phone to ensure the one I want as primary is primary, but that's about the only effort required.
I'm also a constant user of Alexa for source material and navigation.
I have noticed that many of the complaints are really CarPlay or AA blamed on the truck, and as in the IT world, PICNIC. That said, I would welcome a better more open kimono update process and better SQA (Q in general too).

I think that the four issues i had for recalls were no wipers, brakes and steering cable length for ABS. and one other.. i really did not like the safety being the main problem. i did a 23 GM tahoe and it has been simply been turn the key. ford has some real issues.. my last 2.7 leaked oil all over my garage floor.. so it has been at least since 2016 this manufacture problems has been a real concern. i have had two F150s and one GM.. since 2016. GM has been more reliable... though ford has better performance.

Economy is now starting down.. Intel stock was down 26% last friday. that will tell us if ford is going to get down to business or not. it has been a while since we have a had a good recession.

serves them right, Ford sync sucks…. I bet 50% of the time it goes black or reboots within the first 2 minutes of starting. the other 50% Carplay wont sync until I shut off the truck, open a door and get the system to reboot. again.
I have that problem too, but found a solution that works 99% of the time - but it means extra effort. Assuming you have Apple carplay? If so, go to Utilities, Settings, General, Carplay, Select your truck, Click car play off then back on ... I have gotten pretty good at it and need to do once or twice a week and it works for me. I think the phones are half of the problem here with Sync (and other systems too). Good luck.

Just reboot sync by holding vol down and track forward on the steering wheel.

There is a SSM stating that connectivity issues will be solved in a future version of sync. My s21 has connectivity issues in the MME via wireless connection.

100 %. my problems always stem from the use of Carplay. so is it Fords fault? I dunno.
but ever since CD’s or even tape decks vanished with the dinosaurs. we are all stuck streaming to play what we want to hear. and I just preferred a wireless carplay. when it connects

USBs full of MP3s work too. YT music unpaid also works to serve up your MP3s.

I forgot about that option. I think I tried a USB stick early on and something didn't go right, but I may have to give that another look

I have trouble with employees understanding the operation of equipment that is too technical for their skill level (too). Some really get it and easily understand the instructions, others are baffled and just press buttons until it appears to work ... maybe AI will fix this??

Identifying underlying causes is half the battle of solving problems. Hopefully Ford can follow-through on the second half.

Wishing the best for Ford and their beleaguered customers, while selfishly very thankful I've not suffered SYNC-related problems (though there is that nagging Max Tow axle bolt matter still hanging unresolved :unsure: ).
Oh yeah, that thing ?

It seems the only way a dealer can charge Ford for warranty work is if they can charge for replacement parts. This is why they say "We don't get paid to update software" what Ford needs to recognize is that software is a "part" of the vehicle, and that the software does have a part number associated with it. Just because a technician is using a keyboard instead of a wrench to repair the vehicle that shouldn't make a difference on being paid. Ford really needs to change how there dealer warranty system works. Dealer's should also be required to have a trained software technician on hand as well as mechanics.
You know, my dealer told me the same thing when we purchased the 23 explorer
He does not get paid to do updates
Rugedraw showed me I had like 5 or 6 that were needed.
So I think of its a new car. It should be delivered to customer with most current software and updates.. especially in vehicles that ford deleted the 4g stuff, which is part of ota updates.
I had to update sync the old way with an usbstick
I did find a tsb on door outside buttons key pad thing that shuts down..there is bcm update needed
So next oil change...soon..it's going to have that complaint hmm fixed

And vehicles that have sat on dealer lot for 6 months or longer especially shouldne updated as part of delivery to customer

Im just pissed we cant get simple things like DRLs that arent vulnerable to software. I really just want a truck that looks as good as a 2023 lariat, but has leather and roll down windows and simple buttons everywhere.

Using tape in my Camero required pencil pretreatment, no TSB that I remember.

I still get 2 different Sync problems, but I never considered reaching out to the dealer to "fix" it because I know they have no clue and it's definitely software issues:

1. SiriusXM no longer shows the artist or song title.s

2. From time to time my CarPlay either goes quiet (no sound, even though it says it's playing, and that includes Siri's voice), and sometimes it will just pause my media.

I use both Android and Apple. Car play is crap compared to Android auto. I never have an issue with Android auto, but if I try to use carplay it's buggy. Interestingly enough, this same thing happens in my wife's Denali, she has the Google operating system in hers. I'm thinking it's an apple issue, not necessarily a manufacturer issue.
