In my state the factory gas tank cannot be upgraded legally due to emissions requirements unless it is for a diesel engine.
I know California is stupid, but that has to be the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. What does the size of a gas tank have to do with emissions? You'll "pollute" the CA hypocrites' air with the same amount of gasses, whether it is a one fill of 36 gallons or two fills of 48.

Did not even consider Chevy/GMC as some crew cabs are made in Mexico, some are made in USA.
Wanted a vehicle made with US labor.

I did not consider a Chevy or a GM truck as the 1500 models do not have an option for a larger gas tank. My Chevy 2500 had a standard 36 gallon fuel tank but their 1500 pickup is limited to a 24-gallon gas tank. In my state the factory gas tank cannot be upgraded legally due to emissions requirements unless it is for a diesel engine.

The Chevy off-road package is $10.000 less than the equivalent from Ford but off-road the fuel capacity is even more critical when many miles from the nearest gas station and fuel economy when crawling along is at its lowest.
This is the main problem for the gas powered 1500s.

... I don't want to say "six way multi-function pro tailgate"

It's just so much easier to say "bed utility package" or "BUP"
For a few years now, Chevy has put out incredibly ugly half ton trucks with horrendous seats. Now that the off road trims like the ZR2 are changing the fascia, its quite a bit better. Still, the silverado isnt nearly as wide as the f150 and looks goofy because of it.

Now the 3/4 tons are super good looking. Flawless in fact. Luckily the F250s look damn good too.

I have to say, the canyon and colorado are really good looking too if they would just give me literally any other engine and help the mileage along to at least beat what our own 2.7 can do.

Pack the family up and come on down to Georgia. We have big gas tanks, carry firearms, $3 a gallon gas and we eat meat.

Not true. TransferFlow has a 45 Gallon tank that has gotten a CARB E.O. number and is legal.

The gas tank has evaporative requirements, so it has parts of the vehicle emissions control system as part of it. It just needs to be certified. See above.

It's easy to forget, especially if you're not from here. that the air over LA used to be brown with smog. There are more people in the LA basin that in your entire state, and 10 times that in the entire state. Mountainous air boundaries mean the pollution you make doesn't blow somewhere else like states east of the Rockies. You actually have to deal with it, and not just let it blow away. It's nice to be able to breathe.

For me it was mainly the looks. Didn't like the outside and the inside was very plain.

Now this current gen I love the exterior, especially on the HD's but the inside is still super meh.

Ditto..
I used to be a chevy guy...but when the 2003 (First Gen in this pic) came out I just vomit every time I see one...Then the second gen, better headlights, but the bumper corners always look 'swelled' too big for everything around them. The third gen I liked but had already switched to Ford with my 2012, so no need for a third gen, and now the fourth, just looks weird, current versions are looking a little better, but not as good as the F150.

Also they can't seem to fix the bed wheel well paint/rust issue....so Aluminum body was big seller for my latest 2021 F150. MN puts as much salt on the roads as snow that falls.

Ford F-150 I did not buy a Chevy because... 1722254151630-q
