I've always found, with any vehicle, you get the best milage traveling constantly at the speed that the transmission goes into it's highest gear. On my 5.0 with 3.73 gears that's about 45 which can yield 26-28 mpg. Faster than that and air resistance increases so quickly that by the time you are traveling 65-70 you have dropped 5-6 MPG.

From the internet:
"Pushing air around actually takes up about 40% of a car's energy at highway speeds. Traveling faster makes the job even harder... The increase is actually exponential, meaning wind resistance rises much more steeply between 70 and 80 mph than it does between 50 and 60."

Maybe I missed it, but what was the actual calculation? These L-O-M’s are famous for 1-1/2 or more MPG inflation. Not that 22mpg is bad, mind you.?

2021 4x4 5.0 w/3.73’s here. 2.5 week, 2000+ mile trip with 90% of that being highway and back roads, rarely exceeding 77 let alone 80. From Florida to KY and back, averaged 19-20 mpg (car calculated). I’m not sure how anyone is getting 24 mpg with the same config unless you are going down hill and with the wind at 75 mpg.
Rainbows and unicorns help ?

That’s a real thing for my PB too, but our trucks, regardless of powertrain, getting over 20 on the interstate at speed is pretty amazing imo.

Just going off my trip miles of 661.4 and a general 30 gallons as I’ve never filled up more than that is 22.04 so I still think it’s impressive for a v8 I still didn’t buy this truck for fuel economy though.

I have been getting consistenlty 19 MPG on E85 on back highway travel (60mph). Of course now that I have E Rated 35 inch Falken AT4s that is sure to go down. The 5.0 is so finely tuned nothing can touch in the domestic US markent.

So we did a 950km run this past weekend. I averaged 115 k/hr @ 11.2 l/100 km with a good dozen 3/4 throttle passing topping at 150-160 k/hr
25.2 Cdn gal mpg or 21 us gal mpg...

I can get 28 mpg Cdn if I drive like an old man with mine. But it is a 3.5 EB

With less than 1,000 miles so far, made a round trip from Charlotte NC to Johnson City TN and back, 99% interstates running speed limit, but several construction areas with slow speeds in mountain areas. Got a little over 24MPG not using cruise control. Next trip will check gallons used against miles driven. 2024 F-150 STX 5.0L 2WD

What axle ratio do you have? I assume 3.31
I am 4x4 with 3.73 so my rpm are a bit higher and I’m heavier than yours at highway speeds

I have a 3.73 differential.
Ok love the 3.73 in mine. I have no issues getting up to speed even with regular throttle input. Passing on the highway with ease with a little downshift and jump in rpm. But then I watch the mpg gauge plummet but I also get to hear the glorious v8 I only average 17 on my normal non highway drive to and from work
