The problem is it always defaults to Normal. With the powerboost it will stay on electric quite a bit more when your in eco mode, which is great around town. Its not a bad thing, but I am just lazy and would prefer it just hold the mode till I change it.
I have a 21 . To get eco from normal i rotate to left 3 clicks . Firat activates dial. The next 2 get me to eco. Always goes back to normal on key cycle .

Also, do you have to select a mode every time you start the vehicle or does it default to the mode it was last in when it was last turned off?
I have put my truck in eco mode then shut it off, got back in later and it will ask me if I want it to stay in eco mode and then you hit ok. This is on the dash display and the question pops up but goes away quickly

The freakin' recirculate won't even stay on if you key off the truck! You expect Ford to let you stay in the same drive mode?

When I first got the truck, I would change into Eco mode EVERY time I drove it as I left my neighborhood. Once, I overshifted into one of the 4X4 only modes and it turned the part-time four wheel drive on while I was driving. I had to stop the truck and turn it off to get it back into 2WD. I was going straight and at low speed, so it was no big deal.
Why stop? Just switch it back to eco and it’ll go back to 2WD

Or press the 2WD button and it will switch out of 4x4 even if you're still in Sport mode.

I stopped because I was about to run out of road before a 90° turn. I actually had to turn the ignition off and on again to get back out of 4X4 because it didn't want to with any of the drive modes or the electric shift on the fly buttons. It's not good for the drivetrain to be in 4X4 on pavement in the dry and it's also not a pleasant driving experience, which I know from an old Jeep Grand Cherokee that I had to drive which had something worn out in its AWD system. The tires were like fingers on a chalk board every time you had to park the thing.

I miss the physical shifter of my first truck, where I could get 4X4 within .2-.5 of a second every time. The ESOTF takes an eternity in comparison and doesn't always engage.

Or press the 2WD button and it will switch out of 4x4 even if you're still in Sport mode.
XLT regular cab doesn't have the 4A transfer case as an option, so Sport is always RWD when it comes on. I would have gotten the 4A transfer case, LED headlights and opening rear window if I could but Ford won't sell them to reg. cab owners at any cost. If I want any of those things, I have to add them myself.

Along this same topic, the center of the driving mode knob can be pressed. What does this do? Does it lock the driving mode?

For those of you that have your trucks already, can you switch the truck to Sport mode while it is in motion, or will that hurt the transfer case? Can the truck be in motion while a “4x4 Shift in Progress” is happening?

I have a Sport mode on one of my other vehicles and it’s nice to just be able to turn it on and off as needed.
lariat-up with '4A' mode can shift on the fly- dunno about the 4H while over certain speeds

My 2021 I found if you turn it off for a short time less than 3 or 4 min then start it back up it will ask if you want to remain in the old mode and even keep the cluster set in the last setting. I really wish this would just stick to the last setting. I dont understand why it defaults after long periods of being off. Seems like a simple fix that people would love.

Sorry for being green here... what does that mean? That it locks your rear differential? And would it lock the rear dif in every single mode? It's a little confusing to me.

I just updated all modules in my truck using a VCX nano, are of them was for the instrument panel.

Since updating, I've noticed that I'll get a prompt to return to eco mode even if I leave the truck from 3pm to 8am the next day.
