Not an issue. Truck will still go to sleep with keys inside.

If you want to lock the keys in truck you need to use the two bottom buttons on keypad. This overrides the safety feature that normally won't allow you to lock keys inside. Be sure you have the code to get in before you do that. :)

Don't you have a spare key fob? Why can you unlock the doors via the key ?

I'm out in the 'sticks'. If left in the truck they can be found, no problem. Bring them inside and 'POOF', instantly lost. Sometimes out in the field because both Malamute/Husky's love to chew on anything/everything that has been touched by THEIR humans. If not, something is laying on top of them ANYWHERE on the property. Yea, in an ideal world they'd be hung on a hook or placed in a bowl. Not an ideal world.

Because I am not worried about my truck getting stolen. I am worried about all the tech in these things staying on and causing battery issues

Consider getting a console safe and an RF proof bag. You can lock them in the vehicle, but if someone breaks the window, the truck won't start.

I used to have the same problem, even with a hook and bowl. Solved it with AirTag.

First of all I believe if you leave the key in the truck the battery will be active and drain the fob battery.
2nd is I would get a air tag and attach it to your keyring. They’re too expensive to replace and reprogram.
