Has been beaten to death on here, the 5.0 and 3.5 are both faster than the 2.7. All the drag videos are from tfltruck in Colorado, so that’s meaningless as the 5.0 is 15% down on power up there. 5.0 and 3.5 both have sub 6 second 0-60 times for an XLT Screw. The 2.7 best time is 6.1 sec. The 5.0 and 3.5 also both make more power and torque than previous gen’s in the 14th gen, the 2.7 has stood still since 2018.

Except this thread was not about drag racing or wide open throttle performance. OP was discussing how the 5.0 felt in normal driving, and even admitted to not exceeding 30-40% throttle. You know, nomal driving that normal people normally do. It's not about .xx of a second difference in WOT 0-60 times.

I think the 2.7 is quicker than the 5.0 based on all the drag videos I watched between the two. Many times the 2.7 is quicker to 60 than even the 3.5 stock. The 2.7 is also built with a compacted iron block with cracked main caps and has those diesel inspired offset connecting rods that also have cracked caps. The thing is build just like a diesel.

We have seen the videos, it's a great engine and gets great mileage.

Often times the 2.7 trucks are lower trim (lighter) and have the thinner frame, lighter axles, etc (lighter) and it holds its own to 60 and then runs out of steam.

Since those 2018 videos that show the 2.7 matching or beating other trucks in certain conditions (that many magazines and reviews have proven them to be inaccurate) both the 5.0 and 3.5 had added power and are even quicker. The 2.7 has not.

Last note, at high elevation the 2.7 (and 3.5) will lose less than the 5.0 will. I'm those cases the 2.7 can beat the 5.0, but that's not the norm.

As mentioned before, a Pedal Commander totally makes the 5.0 feel more powerful in low rpm.

I disconnected mine the other day, even with the Livernois tune, pedal feel down low sucked.

Pedal Commander is a recommended add.

After some more seat time,.. I still miss my PB. The CDK hack has affected the ability to get parts, so things are taking longer.

A few notes:

- Cold start, I can definitely tell it's a V8. She purrs. ♥
- Its not as under-powered as I initially thought, but it sure does like some revs. It still feels lacking on the top-end. Again, I am used to boost and a tune. This loaner also has the 3.31 rear-end.
- If I had a 5.0, I would want boost, in some form.
- I can tell an appreciable difference in the suspension. Regular 4x4 vs max tow FX4 with a rear sway bar. Mine feels waay more planted and predicable. But heavier too.
- I want my truck back.

Edit: I just noticed that it has a 1992lb payload, so that kicks that shit out of my 1382lb capacity. That's at least a few hookers. ?

It’s all relative, to a 5.2L Raptor R driver a PowerBoost will feel lethargic and lazy at best. To a CyberTruck driver the Raptor R will feel totally gutless….the list goes on lol. Once the Raptor E with 2000 HP comes out, the CyberTruck will feel gutless again.

My 5.0 hits 0-60 in 5.2 seconds bone stock on E-85, and 5.6 seconds on premium. That’s plenty of giddy-up for me. Just as the 2.7’s 6.1 Sec 0-60 has plenty of giddy-up for anyone realistically. I’d be lying if I said a 2.7 wouldn’t be enough for me.

I love that you love your 5.0. I'm not shitting on it.

I don't want one. ?‍♂?♥

Good recommendation on the Pedal Commander. I had a similar setup on a boosted Volvo years ago and it made up for the wicked turbo lag down low. I'll look into it for my 5.0L.

There it is. Only the RaptorR bests the PowerBoost. Wow, usually these summertime arguments take longer to conclude with PB superiority. RaptorR owners notwithstanding of course. ?

Unless it's on the track, it's all pointless. Any gen14, any donk will get you a speeding ticket in under 10 seconds (well, in my nanny-state anyway ?)?‍♂

We just got a 24 2.7 at work. Not only does it have a boost leak that is very audible, i feel like im driving my wife's 4runner. Very sluggish. Same with our 23 2.7.
