I would second this and probably say its because of turbo lag. You have to get the turbos going to feel that low end bullshit, whereas with an NA 5.0, your inputs are more directly reflected without having to get deeper in the pedal.
Yeah the turbo lag can be problematic. Didn't happen often, but when it did it will make you panic a little.

The ecoboost turbos are small and don't really have lag. There's not really a comparison between the 3.5 and 5.0 to be had. A well optioned 5.0 with a 3:31 might be good for gas mileage, but it needs to deeply downshift before its nuts begin to drop. EB turbos are undersized and spool just isn't an issue. Running out of steam after 5k RPM is a problem though. The PB specifically is making more torque at 2300 RPM than the 5.0 will see at any RPM. Even with larger turbos there still isn't a spool delay. but it significantly increases its power on the top end. My 6200lb pig will spin all 4 34" tires from a standstill. Seems that 'low end bullshit' will go wee wee wee, all the way home.

I'm still waiting for my RCSB..But after being on the forum since December using 93 seems to wake up the 5.0 just a little..

I get that the turbos are small and should have minimal lag, but theres a clear undeniable difference in actual driving. You can see on the boost gauge that it isnt instantaneous.

RPM is a factor just as downshifting is. No it's not EV instant, but ya know what is? The electric motor sitting on the torque converter in the PB ?

From a dead stop you can mash the gas on a 3.5 truck (and I have 3.31 gears) without brake boosting and it hits harder than a 5.0 (my 5.0 had 3.55). If you brake boost you need 4wd.

There is no tubo lag bs. They both build power but the EB builds more and it builds faster.

When driving, both need a moment to downshift. If you're already in the right gear your rpm is so high it doesn't need to build boost. The EB hits harder from a around the town roll too. On the highway, they feel similar.

Then maybe theres something wrong with mine, because its definitely not as responsive as the rental 5.0 I had. I see the boost gauge go up at exactly the same time I feel the power come on, which is after spinning up the turbos.

I see you have the 2.7. I only test drive through 2.7 for a few miles, so I have very little experience with it (compared to having owned a 5.0 2020 and owning a 3.5 2022).

It was peppy and quick around town. Didn't have a lot of steam on the highway though. It wasn't slow by means, it just seemed like all 0-50 or 60 power.

I think the 2.7 is quicker than the 5.0 based on all the drag videos I watched between the two. Many times the 2.7 is quicker to 60 than even the 3.5 stock. The 2.7 is also built with a compacted iron block with cracked main caps and has those diesel inspired offset connecting rods that also have cracked caps. The thing is build just like a diesel.
