Well, I got the email today about the 3-year "Free" Built-in Navigation expiring for my 2021 Powerboost. (I put "free" in quotes because it was FAR from free when you look at the price of the truck!)

I guess that will have to go the way of all the other features that are disappearing from my truck. (SecuriAlert, numerous features in FordPass, etc)

To be honest, I usually use Apple Maps or Waze... it's just annoying to pay as much as we did for our trucks and have features go away.

They're not removing the feature. Your 3 year trial is expiring. You can renew it if you want to keep it.

Well, the live data and map updates are being removed, but you will still be able to navigate with the stored data since you have the "built-in."

I wonder if the map data can stay current with FDRS updates?

I never did activate the navigation on my truck. I still live in the stone age. I still use my Garmin. Mrs Atlee will check the maps in her phone to see if the roads ahead are green (clear). I'm certainly not paying Ford every year for nav services.

Yes, those of us with 21 Job 1 trucks had 3 years of connected nav "free". Mine expires next month and I am on the fence as to weather or not to renew . Yes it's only $80 per year, but with CarPlay I use my iPhone to navigate, so I haven't made up my mind.

In 2022 they deleted the built in nav with the 3 year trial for any truck less than a 502a. This was a big feature for me and I just squeaked in with my 502a order. The regular nav got the 90 day trial.

My 3 years connected navigation expired.
Lost traffic data and weather but I still speak to the sync lady and she takes me where I need to go. I tried after it expired I said "what is the weather like" and was kindly told I need to pay for that feature. ?

If you use the nav (I actually like the Ford nav) and let it expire you may want to just update every 3 or 4 years for a year and let it expire again. That will probably (probably) update the onboard maps to the latest. Maybe not bad for $80 every 3 or 4 years if you travel a lot.

Been wondering about that because it might update with some of the APIM updates on FDRS. Really not sure where map data is stored. If when you unsubscribe it reverts to older base map instead of live connected map that would be annoying traveling to new address. I did notice going through interstate with new lane configuration on rebuild it had the old version on map. I didn't pay attention if it was showing the updated lanes before it expired though. ?

That’s the difference between “Connected Navigation” and Connected BUILT-IN Navigation”. Same product, but one came with a “complementary 3 year subscription” while the other came with a “90 day trial”.

My ‘22 302a came with Connected Built-in Nav; I.e., 3 year subscription.

I'll have to check mine in the morning since they said it expired yesterday. My BlueCruise expired months ago but still works every time I activate it so I am hopeful the connected navigation is the same.

Yes that was a delete that was added around April or May of 2022 production. Before that everyone could get the built in as an option (I believe) with the 3 year trial but then Ford announced this as a delete for 501a and less.

I remember seeing this and being bummed and emailed Chip at Granger to make sure my 502a still had it. It may have been a deal breaker for my order from Jan 2022. He said that as of that announcement, 502a was still safe but he could not say for how long. It could be an issue later, it may not.

My order still had not been built yet so I would check this forum daily dreading seeing someone post that Ford just announced they are expanding this delete. That never came though so even after being scheduled for May my order was bumped and bumped to the end of August. It was made with the Built In Nav so I was happy about that.

Yup, I remember feeling the same with my 402A. Fortunately, mine came with the connected BUILT IN once I got my window sticker.
