For what it is worth. 4 weeks past I ordered exactly the same truck as you are looking at, except I got the lighter blue. Got an order accepted email the same day that included this sentence "You can expect to receive an update regarding your order within the next 45 days. " . Was hoping that the 45 days thing was sort of a worst case CYA thing but I haven't heard squat in 30 days so maybe it will be 45 days before Ford bothers to give me an estimated build date and heaven knows how long after then.

Your math is not quite right for a Granger comparison. Start at INVOICE and go back 4% of that number. Not MSRP. Granger sends you a check for your state sales tax back to you within 15 days to take to your local tax office. Call Chip to get a better understanding of that process. Chip will give you a quote and a estimate of your out the door cost. Just for a laugh get a OUT THE DOOR amount financed quote from your local dealer.. Dealer fees and charges matter! Many in Florida are triple or more than Granger. The only real benefit you get buying local in state for ALL the extra money is you don't have to go to your tax office and pick up a new tag. Is that inconvenience 'worth' $5,000.00 or more? If so I understand as it IS a learning process to buy from Granger..And you will have to make a trip to your local tax office. But once you understand the process of what you need to do it's no big deal. Especially if you don't have a trusted local dealership you stand a very high chance of getting financially raped while you are in the back room signing paperwork! Plus getting a 'real' out the door price is extremely difficult. Many dealerships don't want to disclose the high fees they charge and give you a "quote" that seems reasonable based off of MSRP. BEWARE!! It's so easy to lay down and pay many thousands more than you have to. It happens every day..

Interesting! The truck is $41,820 after the $500 rebate is applied as I have it optioned with the 103A, tonneau cover, and spray in bed liner. A 4% discount would take another $1,673 off making the price $40,127 before taxes are applied. This state will hit me with another 6.25% and then an excise tax of another $1000 a few months later and $25 per thousand every year thereafter . ? Then they blow all that money they steel from the working middle class on socialistic programs and people who don't want to work. ?

  • Base MSRPS1
    $36,875
  • Options
    + $3,450
  • Accessories
    + $0
  • Destination Charges
    + $1,995
  • Total MSRP
    = $42,320
  • Available Incentives
    - $500

  • Estimated Net Price
    = $41,820
Just to make sure you know what the Granger deal is. They charge 4% under invoice price for an order. An example might be the MSRP on the truck is $42,300. The invoice price for the truck might be $39,300. Then you take that invoice price of $39,300 and subtract 4% and that brings that MSRP $42,300 truck down to about $37,700. This is the price before any incentives you may qualify for. (Military, First Responders, Ford Promotion, etc)

I do not know the exact invoice price but this is the formula you would use to get a price from Granger. Figure a $700-$800 trip to Iowa with flight, gas and hotel or ship it to you for maybe $1200 with some car carrier service, and that is the bottom line figure a new Granger truck would cost.

Use that for comparison from the local guys and see what is worth it to you. Good luck.

I love mine. One of the main reasons why I got back into an F150 was because I missed that great V8 under the hood. The RCSB was just right for me in many ways, plus they are very nicely equipped trucks for a “base model” XL. Just got back from the first weekend camping trip with it, had the bed loaded with firewood and camping gear, everything fit under the tonneau cover with plenty of room to spare.

To answer your question on RCSB vs other models, the extra wheelbase and weight definitely improve the ride- significantly. The RC also has very noticeably higher road noise levels. Don't get me wrong, I love RC trucks and came very close to buying one but there were too many things I didn't like about it. I hate the new grill. I would have had to immediately buy wheels/tires, I dislike, almost hate the fold down center armrest and the comfort level/storage space made me go with a SC. There are leftover 23's that have 10k+ discounts and 1.9 financing so that is where I landed. But the RC is a really good deal... My local dealer always seems to have a few in stock- but usually white and not great looking. Carbonized grey is my favorite color. It looks good with the black mirrors and trim whereas lighter colors don't.

I’ve had 3 all 4x4 and 2 supercharged. I will say that when you list 98% of the time you don’t use 4x4 then you haven’t done AWD launches before ? You will increase the 2% to 20-30% lol.
I sold my supercharged GT350 to buy the one I have now just because it’s more fun do it all vehicle and it’s easier for an old man like me to work on it
Good point. I am older now and back then I was in my late twenties/early thirties when I owned that Tundra with the DOHC V8. I don't think I would be doing jack rabbit starts like I used to but I do still like to have the power in reserve and just roll into it after a strong but mature showing off the line. I also like to use the gearing with engine braking in rush hour traffic so I don't have to use the brakes much. That makes for a relaxing lazy drive during rush hour traffic and I dont think turbo motor would be as good with that but I’m not sure how the Ford 2.7/3.5 actually would handle that. My 3.7 naturally aspired motor handles it very well. I think I like the linear power delivery of a NA motor anyway and less worry about turbo troubles after 100k miles. I tend to keep my vehicles for 10 years.

Pros/cons for 4x4

Cons:
$5,000 premium over 2wd
300 lbs weight penalty means less responsive handling.
higher ground clearance (con for me)
Higher insurance cost
higher maintenance costs
More mechanical parts that can break or wear out
Faster tire wear

Pros:
Higher resale value
Obviously better traction especially in snow
Better traction for hard launches with the 5.0 ?
The ultimate traction king in snow with locker and good tires
Could be useful on slippery boat ramps
Higher ground clearance good for off roading and commanding view
Piece of mind in all low traction situations
Can go more places
Big cool factor in NE

RWD Cons:
Relatively less resale value
Wheel spin with no weight in back on slippery surfaces can be troublesome
Slightly less ride height means slightly less visibility
Less bragging rights in Northeast anyway ?

RWD Pros:
More affordable so I can spend more money on other more desirable features
Less maintenance costs
Less insurance cost
More reliable overall
Mundane work truck look with 5.0 hidden under hood makes it a sleeper ?
Comes with locker differential standard mitigating 2wd traction woes
300 lbs less weight translates into better handling and slightly more MPG
Less weight also translates into more lively all around acceleration
RWD and V8 is a fun to drive configuration especially when coming from FWD ?
Lower ride height translates into better handling

This is great information, thank you kodiak. I will definitely consider this option. Iowa is a 19 Hour drive for me so if the shipping carrier charges $1200 to ship it here then that would be a better deal for me but I bet its closer to $2000, ?. I could also wait until near the end of year when Ford usually has crazy good sales like after Christmas when my local dealer had similar 2023 trucks for $33,000.

Also bossharp makes a good point about the fees. Granger is the lowest I have seen

They do not have a carrier that they use, that is something you would hire outside of Granger. When I was looking I was quoted $1100 for the 1100+ miles to Richmond VA in an open transport. Probably like the normal car carriers or a flatbed. I was also quoted $1800 for enclosed shipping.

Fly out and pick it up and drive 4 or 5 hours, then hotel. Next day drive 10 hours, then hotel. Get up early and drive 4 to 5 hours and you are home by lunch. That is what I did and it was a breeze.

Your savings on an XL RCSB will be smaller than a loaded Lariat+ but it is worth talking to them even if it only gives you some basis on what the local guys can do. Go to the Ford "build your own" website and put together what you want. Email that to Granger and you will get a Granger quote with all prices (MSRP and Invoice) listed and the quote from Granger. They are great people and then you know what else is out there. If nothing else, it is ammo when you go hunting with the local guys. Good luck.

@Kodiak my wife is already irritated over the fact that I’m talking about purchasing a new truck. If I take a plane out to Iowa and am gone for three days to purchase said vehicle then I’m pretty sure when I got back my cloths and personal belongings would be thrown out on the front lawn and there would be different locks on the doors. ?

I stopped by a local Ford dealer today to see what they had in stock before the sales vultures came running out of the showroom towards me. I was out running errands anyway and the ford dealer was right next door.. I noticed a lot of 2023 trucks on the lot with sticker prices north of 60k and a few 2024 trucks with stickers north of 65k. I got a good look from my car window anyway at the 2024 Ranger XLT and Ranger Raptor and man they really made that new Ranger look nice and it seems to be a decent size now too. I was going to get out and look at it but I saw the sales vultures coming so I put it in drive and stepped on it before they got me ?. Ford will even offer the Ranger with the 2.7 turbo V6 in the fall ?. Due to the special financing though the RCSB F-150 would result in $60 less per month payment for 60 months even though the F-150 costs $5,800 more ?. ?

The 2024 2 wheel drive short bed regular cab XL has all the most important options standard this year and is better equipped than any previous year regular cab. Major plus is the 12" center screen and digital dash. That simply was not available before. Most if not all of the new safety tech. One touch power windows cloth seats tilt cruise locks it is NOT a stripper. 5.0 3.73 locker and a tow hitch bed storage all standard. Add privacy glass for a hundred bucks and if you really want chrome bumpers LED fog lights and the work station it's only $1,150.00 more. Pick any color than white lolol!
It's easy and cheep to add leather seats tint and swap higher trim wheels and tires and if you want to paint match the grill and bumpers it will look like a much more expensive 'Sport Truck'..As far as 2 wheel drive loosing higher percentage value I don't think so because it's in a slightly different market segment. It's hard to overcome the additional $5,005.00 MSRP 4×4 costs. This could be the last year or possibly two for a V-8 RCSB. If that happens I'm sure resale value will be strong. There is ALWAYS folks who like a Regular Cab with a V-8..It's really a great general use truck if you don't absolutely need that back seat.

I had a new 2023 Colorado ZR2 when I decided I wanted to get a SCSB to have a little fun. GM has the truck, but without the V8. I decided to go for it and found a 2024 Ford on the lot. These trucks don't sit on the lot very long in my area. Ford had just started the 3.9% financing, so it was a good buy for me. I put 400 miles on it the first day driving home from the dealership and have no regrets.
I have a list a mile long of upgrades and have already done some of them. Bottom line is I love the little truck, its a hot rod that hauls stuff.

That trucks looks great! I like the color and the wheels and it looks like you already painted the bumpers. Did you have a shop do that? Do you have any before pictures so we can compare?

Thanks for the compliments!
Bumpers are powder coated, I was hoping that would stand up to bugs, rocks, ETC a little better thank paint since they where chrome originally. They don't quiet match and are not as slick as the paint on the truck but maybe more durable.
I still have a bunch of stuff I want to do to it, but I do really like it. I did not get any pictures originally, I bought it site unseen when I found one on the dealer lot. They also did the seats for me with maybe a little to much red, but it has grown on me.

A Regular Cab short bed IS a fast dying configuration among all truck manufactures now.. But just look at any list of Classic trucks for sale and most will be single cabs. And sell very regularly for more than the original MSRP if in good shape. I thought long and hard about what I really needed in a new vehicle.. not just a truck. I really think a 2024 F-150 RCSB will hold a higher % of original MSRP than ANY other vehicle period. Chevy...no V-8 and Ram none at all. Last year you basically had to get the rare XLT trim RCSB to get close to what is standard this year. Long bed 'work trucks' are NOT quite the same market segment. If you can find a 2023 5.0 XLT not white or 4×4 it's a good one too. But they were/are extremely rare..
