I wonder why they don’t want to do it. The 9.75 axle is awesome and used to be very commonly paired with the 5.0

Did try that, unfortunately they assured me I’m unable to get on a 2023 Model. Just placed the order with the FX4

We're lucky they're still building a RCSB at all.
true...but trying to find a 5.0 RCSB 4x4 is hard....a ton of guys build them for race/fast street trucks.

Agreed, had to go with the 3.31 gears that comes with fx4.

Hello everyone,

Was placing my order today but noticed when I tried to order the 5.0 engine, it wouldn’t allow me to select the 3.73 Electronic-Locking Axle. Is this not available in a RCSB ?
I have a 2021 RCSB FX4 with 5,0 10sp and 3:73 locker. I dont know if Ford changed something or not. The 3:73 was is awsome with that combo. MPH didnr suffer either.

Yeah that’s the exact configuration I wanted but not available for the 2023 with 3.73. Had to go with 3.31 :(

CAFE MPG Standards can't be meet if they keep selling trucks with gear ratios like 3:73/3:55.

landmark fuel economy standards which follow President Biden’s executive order to drive American leadership forward on clean cars.

I opted for the 3.31 E-Lock since most of my towing will be off road at low speed in low gear anyway. And for just straight off-road climbing... also 4x4 Low.

The 5.0 in a RCSB (400lbs+/- less than larger trucks) has no problem snapping your neck off the line with 3.31 on the street. When you stab the throttle at 45 MPH the 10-speed transmission is happy to jump from 8th gear to 3rd gear in an instant and you'd better be ready!

I would love to drive a 3.73 just to see the difference but I'm pretty happy with the 3.31

I'm averaging 20-22 MPG on the street and when I REALLY baby her on a freeway run, I've pulled 28 out of a tank of gas.

Towing on the street... 15 to 19

I’ve got my 5.0 egoboost with 3.31s and it accelerates just fine :) I’m lowering mine and using airbags as I use it for work and am getting in and out of my bed everyday loading and unloading wheelchairs with a ramp. Getting old I guess.
