You need FDRS to get the latest software. Yours is from 2021. There's a 2024 software stack that fixes a lot of things. Find someone with a mongoose cable around you and update your truck.
im up to date all the way to 1.4 and mine still hugs right. I think some 2021 have a bad camera or one that is installed crooked. I’ve done multiple calibrations and it’s still tries to side swipe 18 wheelers on the right.

There is no L2 system that is going to let you send a text without complaining, that is exponentially more dangerous that changing the radio. However you will find the Comma driver monitoring is very reasonable and doesn't complain about stupid stuff. Comma also works on any road, not just limited access highways.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but as someone who deals with cybersecurity as a portion of my job (not my sole job), I prefer open source platforms to closed. On open source platforms you can see everything, and if there is a vulnerability you or someone else can find it. With a closed source system, only people who have ill intents are even looking for the vulnerabilities because it requires you to break EULA to even start looking for them. You will find there are far more people in the world who are intent on doing good versus harm and open source systems tend to get identified and patched much quicker than a closed source system with a flaw.
Fully agree. Open source is why Linux is as secure as it is and is considered by many to be the most secure OS for PCs. Additionally, if you don't install a 4G card in your OpenPilot or associate your OpenPilot with a wifi network it has no means to communicate to be hacked without a physical connection. Load it with the build you want and cut off access. No worries about being hacked. You won't receive updates but you can manually manage the process for when you upgrade.

As for sending a text without complaining. OP is a L2 driving assistant. It is phenomenal as an assistant but it is not designed for full self driving unattended. The only option for Full Self Driving is Mercedes and that is only on limited access highways when you are driving less than 40mph. (stop and go on the Interstate).

I've been playing with fender heights, raised right 3mm higher than left and it rides the right line now. Going to invert it and test again. Might be the trick to getting it to bias one side or the other ;)

On straight roads it tracks center pretty good, fender height differences seems to bias curves.

That's really interesting and good to know. I'm a techy guy but not when it comes to computer language, software coding and whatnot.

if you are near Phoenix you could hit up @OneFast440 and see if you will take you for a ride.
I'm on the east side of Phoenix. I might reach out some time down the road. For now, BC has been working great for me so I'm not in a hurry. Still waiting for their lane changing feature in the next major update... curious what that's like. Do you know if it's already out yet, or still developing?

Automatic lane changing works really well, in fact I used logs of it to develop the lane change logic for bluepilot. However it’s not publicly available yet. I was just gifted access for research purposes to help the OpenPilot project.

Oh wow, surprised Ford gave you early access. Any idea when it’ll be released for the public? Glad to hear it works really well.

My access didn't come from Ford. But rather by someone who was able to analyze the as-built files of Mach-Es that have the functionality already from the factory and figure out how to make the same changes in the F150. However since we don't know what negative side effects might come from enabling those features before Ford thinks they are ready, that information is not being made public.

He didn't say Blue Cruise. :)
I misunderstood him. When he said he used the logs of it (I’m assuming BC) to develop the lane change logic / feature for BluePilot. But he clarified it below.

I just want it now! Lol...

I see what you’re saying, that makes sense. I cannot wait for the automatic change lane feature. I am excited to see how far you guys develop the BluePilot program. I will def keep my eye on it.

I think I misunderstood as well. But, like you said.. well clarified. The techy side of me itches to mess with it but the logical side says that paying $1,450 for the hardware is a stretch based on my current driving patterns with the truck. If comma would offer another of their flash sales it might just convince me. Oh well. As in Casablanca.. I wait.. and wait... and wait...

Haha I understand… after they’ve gone public, I usually wait while until they sort out all the bugs and feedback from customers. But yeah… let the waiting game begin lol.

..good deals can be found on nearly new, used ones on ebay from time to time; I picked mine up for about $750, but there is one on there right now with a current bid price of $600, and it has had the hard drive upgraded to 1 Tb M.2 SSD.. you would still have to buy the ford harness and window mount, as it comes with ones for a Hyundai:

This is a 3, not a 3X. It will work, but you will need an external red panda ($299 new, you might can find one used) and makes the install more complicated with the extra cables and external red panda.
