After each OTA update, Ford has screwed up something with/on my SYNC4 screen and/or with the truck itself.
So... i've turned off the automatic updates.
this last one, reset everything, deleted all my recent and saved NAV destinations, and now the 12" screen defaults to the SETTINGS screen, instead of staying on the last screen, when the truck was shut off.

Every update has changed and/or screwed up something.
Ford software engineers.. if you can do it right... dont do it at all!

i'm ready to cash it in, and buy a late 60s or early 70s F100, F150 or 250 hi-boy with manual everything! im done with the computerized EVERYTHING!

First world problems! I look forward to each update.
whatever.....lol, when i pay 70k for a truck, it should be the way i want, or at least not change from day to day! its not JUST that screens change, but all kinds of things started acting up ever since the first update, glitches, varried and inconsistant.
if your phone screen constantly changed, you wouldnt like it either!

I disconnected my truck long ago, and I’m 25 years old and am fine with tech. Technology (screens etc) are just stupid in any vehicle. I could give a rats behind about it. Engine, body, etc are all that matters in a truck. I had the same experience, every update screwed up something else. A vehicle is a static purchase, what you get on day 1 is what you get. Most consumers buy into the marketing scheme that Ford is somehow changing your experience through the cheap infotainment screen, they aren’t doing jack sh*t. I drive in my truck, I don’t watch movies, I don’t write emails, I don’t do estimates. A truck is —to drive. Idk why everyone is so caught up in crap you’ll never use in a truck.

that doesn’t sound very patriotic. I expected you to be a better role model Captain America

Engine, body, etc are all that matters in a truck. There is nothing Ford could do to that stupid screen to improve the experience of an automobile. I had the same experience, every update screwed up something else. A vehicle is a static purchase, what you get on day 1 is what you get. Most idiots buy into the marketing scheme that Ford is somehow changing your experience through the cheap infotainment screen, they aren’t doing jack sh*t. It’s a cheap screen with limited capability. I drive in my truck, I don’t watch movies, I don’t write emails, I don’t do estimates. A truck is —to drive. kudos... im in my late 50s and i used to be more of a "techie" but as of late.. i want les and less of it. Hence the old school truck comment. once i retire, i dont want to deal with all the nanny computer aided BS.

nothing to do with patriatism at all... i'll never drive any foreign vehicle, i'm just tired of all the "tech" crap being forced on us...
I've been in the auto industry for 40 straight years and 32 at Ford. I'll never drive anything else... but it will be an older one too.
conceptually, a lot of the tech is ok, but not good execution or reliabilty.
Once humans get used to something, and like it... they dont like change.

If you think turning off auto updates will prevent all updates from installing, be prepared to be disappointed.

Wait, what, you don't like the update to make the upcoming update better, then get the new update and then the numerous updates to correct the problems with the last update, well I never? :ROFLMAO:

The statements in the owners manual about sharing driving and Blue Cruise camera info with govt. if they request it has me thinking this way.

If they start implementing Geofencing and "times of operation control" systems in cars like they are in Europe, or "remote cutoff" starts being used, I'll just purchase two of the latest year Honda Ridgelines (because they will last) without all of that "tech" and drive them for the rest of my life. ;) (Two so that I can alternate and they'll last 30 years). lol

When I joined this board I was curious about the anxiousness many showed over NOT receiving every newest update ASAP. Many threads on how to ensure or force load them.

Then I noticed how some updates caused problems or made changes the owners did not like.

I understand if your truck is having issues or some option isn't available you want it corrected. But what if every thing is perfectly fine?

My truck hasn't been updated (as far as I can tell) in the 7 months I've owned it and has always ran perfectly, no issues. If it updates itself, fine. If if doesn't, that's fine too. I'm not inclined to monitor or worry about it either way unless there is a problem.

Then again, maybe blocking updates will ensure I'm locked in to the perfectness of today? What say the Update Experts?

i turned off all automatic updates. i never let them go through until i read what others experience. i do definitely agree that SYNC4 is a pain in the a** to deal with.
