Presumably, the communication medium default for OTA updates is AT&T data cellular. Unfortunately, where I live, AT&T service is well known for being quite weak/lacking - "spotty", at best. So I can't help but wonder if weak/poor AT&T cellular service inhibits the OTA. The service may be acceptable out driving around, but at home - no bueno. Is this when your home's Wi-Fi is used instead? Presumably, Ford has some kind of data communication protocol that it follows. Can you elaborate any on this?

Thanks again for all the personal time that you take to educate us technology hethans. ;)
Poor data would not prevent an OTA trigger from being sent to your truck. However, it could present problems downloading the files after the OTA trigger is sent. You have to get sent an update before you can have trouble with it.

Great write up, my truck requires me to accept the download and will not proceed past this point unless I explicitly give it permission, that seems to differ slightly from what's outlined above. Maybe I'm misinterpreting

I would get this for updates when I had automatic updates turned off.

Really? Do you remember which was the last OTA this happened with? This did not used to be the case.

I think 6.1.0 too. I did turn auto updates on I know for 6.2.0 thru 6.4.0

I also would get it for the IPC that kept failing constantly, but that is an inhibit update. I really wanted it to succeed.

I don't know if PTS shows anything different for consent when it needs a human button push, but you have my VIN in PM. :)

PTS does not show that; not that I know of. I wonder if this is new with the 6.x.x updates? I'm going to turn off auto updates and see if a can be guinea pig for this. I know with the recent updates, PTS shows SoC readings for non inhibit OTAs which never happened before. It seems like they may have changed the OTA strategy in more ways than one with the 6.x.x updates. I need a bigger sample size. I will add a footnote to the OP tomorrow to mention this.

One thing I will add, I have one of the 2021 Job #1 trucks that got behind on OTA's due to the APIM issues. Since getting it fixed, the OTA's always come in groups of 3 or 4 over a couple weeks, then nothing for 2 -5 months. It's still behind but hopefully it will catch up soon.

To you or anyone that comes across this thread with these types of concerns, the thread for that is here:

If you prefer to keep your VIN private, you can just PM me.
I wonder why your cluster looks different than mine. I have a 21 Lariat (not your Platinum). Is that the difference? My cluster is whack lately. Every time I turn on the truck I get the beginnings of what I assume are European speed signs. Starts as a black dot then will flash the white and red circle with a number in it then will go on to the proper speed sign. I seem to have to adjust my brightness every time I start the truck, same with the Sync 4 asks me if I'm the passenger when I try to browse SXM stations as an example. SXM presets are a joke too. They come and go as they please. I'm sure these are 15 different questions Lol.

I found that on Youtube.....that's not my truck. Based on the fact that he has the decimal on mileage counter, that has to be the same software most trucks are on unless you got 6.8.0 or are a job one truck stuck on the IPC software from the 2.x.x updates.

Ok thanks. I don't know if I'm 6.8.0 or not. I don't know where to check that. I seem to be stuck on 22293. I tried to check if I'm a Job 1 truck, my build date is 6/17/21 which I gather is a limbo date where you don't know which job number it is.

That is job 1. July 1st 2021 and after is job 2. If you're on Sync 22293 than the last APIM update you got was 3.5.3 and you are a bit behind.

Thank you sir. You did a VIN look up for me and I have a bunch of modules that need updating also. I guess I better start looking for someone with a mongoose.

I appreciate all you do for this forum. Happy New Year!
